There have been so many battles,
Over the course of a few years,
Not sure if I can go on anymore,
Having to keep wiping all the tears.

I thought after you won a few,
You would leave me alone for good.
Instead you kept on going,
More than you really should.

Your words in each battle,
Stung my ears like the frigid cold.
On and on you would go,
Some phrases growing so old.

After a while no one paid attention,
They went tone deaf it seems.
But I kept on listening to you,
While you ruined all my dreams.

Thought that if I fought back,
I would eventually win it all.
My dreams and life I needed again,
Instead I lost and felt so small.

Don’t know why I listen to you,
Your words have always been uninviting.
My dignity and hope you have taken from me,
And all I know now is I am tired of fighting.
