Maybe you can help me out on this one:

Are they seriously making a Shrek 4? I mean come on, there are only so many times an ogre can save a kingdom from a stereotypically-good-but-is-now-bad type of character. This is just getting ridiculous.

Shrek 3 looks promising though, for those who want to see it.

It's in theatres May 18th.

Believe it or not, yes, Shrek 4 has been greenlighted, as well as a Shrek Christmas special (Shrek the Halls) coming in December 2007.

If Shrek 3 tanks, that could affect Shrek 4, but currently, it is planned for a tentative 2010 release.

Shrek has clever writing with lots of inside jokes. So long as they keep it up, Shrek will be around for a while.

I know. Shrek is very good. I especially like how they take typically good characters(prince, fairy godmother, etc.) but turn them into the antagonists, and the ogre is ironically the hero. I love it. I also love the more adult humour found in some parts.

However, having said that, there's only so far they can go before it starts to get old and wears off or they run out of antagonists.
