It's high time I go back to some of my more serious Liberal stuff. After all, that is what started this blog, but like life and all things, it is ever changing...

Now, I have experienced the good the bad and the ugly, in terms of Canadian Medicare. You see, a few years ago my half-sister Carolyn had a massive liver failure, and was taken to London Ontario for treatment, since their medical school, hospital and facilities are among the best in Canada for liver related problems... She got better, so they determined that she did not need a liver transplant. However, sicne that day, she has been in and out of the hospital at a moments notice.

If we were living in the states, she and her immediate family would be completely broke. They would have bills ranging around $1 million, and I know that they would not be able to pay it all. But since we're Canadians, it was free. It isn't until a situation like this happens to you that you truly appreciate the healthcare system, which is why I am opposed to privatized healthcare. Two-tier maybe, but that is still pushing it in my opinion.

Now I know that our system is far from perfect, and needs a lot of work. I know because the doctors and the system really piss me off at times. And all we Canadians do, is bitch and bitch and bitch. All we do is throw money at it.

This is how I like to think of healthcare in Canada:

Imagine that healthcare is a house during winter, and your hosue doesn't have good insulation. What do you do? Turn up the heat. So you stay warm, but you spend mroe and more money, for the same amount of heat. This is what politicians have been doing for years. Throwing money at healthcare and hoping the problem will solve itself.

When all that is really needed, is some money for supplies to winter-proof your hosue(healthcare), and then you can have nice heat at a lower cost, and voila...Problem solved.

What I'm saying is that while I really appreciate our healthcare system, it needs to be investigated and carefully "winter-proofed". This would then allow more money for other things, such as environmental protection, the military, and numerous social programs...

Good for you.

I personally love it. Again, I'd pay a few taxes happily so that I would be able to get free, cheap, quality healthcare. I personally believe that our Healthcare is why Canada is Healtheir then the "Healthcare-is-just-another-company" United States.

Let's see, Some taxes... Or poverty.... Phew...

If I was poor, Who would I want more?

I wouldn't even be able to afford the United States. You end up getting charged for every last little second you remained in that hospital, every room you entered, every gas you breathed in, etc. Also charging as much as 300% more then Canadian Docters would charge.

Social Healthcare is great, and is why Tommy Douglus is the Greatest Canadian.

Okay, so how exactly do we winter-proof it?

...

What if we had a different system all together? Socialism and Capitalism (minimised of course).

You could classify the injuries... And charge accordingly... Of course, nothing as atrostious as the US Capitalist System. You wouldn't be forced on the street inorder to pay for a Liver Transplant.

Minor would still be free.... Things liek broken Bones and such...

But the major stuff would still be around 300% less then US.

Eh?
Again, I'd pay a few taxes happily so that I would be able to get free, cheap, quality healthcare.
A) It isn't free, and it is contradictory to say cheap right after wards, And I am laughing out loud at the fact that you said quality.

My dad has been in the hospital for the past 3 -4 weeks. I have never seen such screwing around and despicable shit as I have there. Our health care is retarded. Whoo hoo, it is cheap, but it fucking sucks balls. I would rather pay more to make sure I get the care I need, then not pay as much, and get half-assed bullshit like we do now.

Then move to the states. I personally would not like to see paying the Medical Bills being one of the leading causes in poverty in Canada.

Better some Healthcare than none, eh?

I shouldn't have technically said Free. I should have said "Not having to pay upfront a horrendous bill, but rather have it slowly deducted in the form of taxes".

And by cheap, I meant that it doesn't cost as much to maintain a Canadian Hospital than.. Say, it does an American Hospital.

Nice arguement. Oh, the armor can't stop anything, but at least you have it.

Would that be ok to say to the soldiers? Didn't think so.

Slowly deducted is right. Has anyone ever done the math in how much we actually pay for health care?

Bull shit. It costs the exact same. You just spend it over a period of time instead of all at once. My dad would not be getting the care he is if my mom was not a nurse. She actually had to yell at the head nurse, and yell at al lthe other nurses on the floor cause they weren't doin their jobs. Great fucking healthcare. PDT_Armataz_01_33

There are families where mothers work 3 jobs and have kids in the United States, and many say they just could not afford a major illness.

Capitalist Health care is also brutal, You can't argue that.

Contary to what you think, Socialist Healthcare isn't all crap. There is some fucking good.

I don't care. I'd rather have the taxes raised and still have my care cost deducted from me slowly then being forced to pay a large sudden amount of money upfront. You can re-earn the taxed money when it's over time and not be in financial danger. Not the same for Capitalist Healthcare. Your bill immedietly decides weither you will be living on the street one day or in a good nice home the next.

So you are saying that because your hospital's nurses are not great, the rest of Canada's Hospitals must be in terrible, terrible disatorous ruins that are on the brink of destruction?

Capitalist health care is top quality.

No it isn't. You have underpaid doctors and nurses who don't give a fuck about their job and give you shitty care, until you kick them in the ass.

Learn to manage money and that isn't a problem.

Yes it is. If you have to take out a loan, pay it off. Don't dick around and just do it.

It's the style in Canada. They are underpaid, and therefore don't care.
