What I didn't like is the small reversion to the crap in Season 1 and the "Mystery of the Week".

Cables in the ocean, repeater signal in the hills, crashed plane in the jungle, skeletons in the cave, numbers on the hatch etc...(The numbers actually were explained in the Lost Summer Game on the Internet last year...didn't play the game? Too bad because the answer didn't make it into the show.)

All of them dropped rather unceremoniously and forgotten. Except when the black smoke kills Mr. Eko but....nothing's explained. Russian dude in the Flame Station, did you know there are cables in the ocean? Yes, they guide in the submarine! Cool, now let's blow up the sub and forget them.

Last week's episode, despite Locke's dad being on the Island, at least advanced one mythology point that could theoretically start to tie the threads together. IF the Island really can grant a wish to those who could solve it's mystery and locate The Room, it would explain the various people going to the Island over the years (like the dudes who built the four-toed statue). It would explain the DHARMA Initiative setting up camp on the Island to change the Numbers. It would explain hiding the Island from competing interests to solve the mystery and get the wish.

Is that theory right? I don't know and I really don't care. But I'm sick of the writers rinsing each episode in diluted piss-filler and not steering this towards a conclusion.

But yeah, I know what you mean. They keep dropping lots of intresting stuff instead of building on it. That is why I put forth the challenge for everyone and anyone to go back, watch all episodes, note what things have yet to be explained, and submit that to the writers and make them shit their pants...
