Okay, so I'm reading this article:

http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/new ... de&k=10692

And I couldn't help but burst out laughing at this fucktard's hypocricy.

He claims it's a slap in the face of Quebecers. It seems that this ignoramus is forgetting Quebecs Loi 101, which is a Nazi-esque language law. If you want to know what I mean, just google it or better yet, go to Montreal and look at the signs...

He also seems to be ignoring the fact that English schools in Quebec are like a modern day ghetto. They get leftover crap from other schools that are French and get pools, fencing courts, top-line computer and science labs, etc.

What do the english schools get? Mac OS. *shudder*

But the part of this I absolutely love, is this...

Why didnt he take the chance to learn French whileworking in this so-called bilingual federal capital? It is shamefulthat the Conservative party and the Canadian state dont take thissituation seriously.

I love that, because if you're an Anglo in Quebec and outside of Gatineau and/or Montreal, good luck finding someone who can speak in English!

I see that the Quebecois are serious about elarning English.

Hypocrites...

Frankly, as a citizen living in Ottawa, I don't give a crap if the NCC chairman is Anglo, Franco, or speaks Chretienese, I just care about whether or not they can do their job and be more open. The NCC is known for its secrecy.

These Quebecois need to shut up and stop bitching and whining about every little thing. Focus on the capability of Mr. Mills to do his job, not his proficiency in French.

I direct you attention to a thread I started a while back.

As a resident in M. Richard Nadeau's riding I am appalled by His record on bilingualism. He does not offer bilingual mailings. Perhaps his point of view is that Anglos must speak French, shouldn't be the same on the other side of the issue as well? That door swings both ways!

He is the Bloc's language critic. I guess he needed something to do to justify his job.

In the mid eighties, my 15 yr old sister came to live with me in Montreal, she was in gr 10.
When I went to register her in school, I couldn't believe the rig a ma roll!
If I wasn't able to prove that I had gone to school in Quebec - in English - my kid sister would have been FORCED to go to a French School! (thank goodness I had finished my elementary and high school)

Two points there!
One: A student who has not learned a language - fluently and is forced to be educated in a foreign language, loses grades and spends time needlessly on having to learn the language
Two: One would think that it's against our rights to have such a thing shoved down our throats! We may be in a bilingual country and both languages are taught in the school systems, but to FORCE it upon someone into learning a language, mid way in their education, so as to be ABLE to continue their education, denotes the lack of respect, rights and concern for their "canadian - quebecois" citizens.

It's no wonder corporations moved out of Quebec and it's no wonder why potential new businesses don't move in. What if a business man from B.C. saw potential in the uncapped forest industry of Quebec and moved there with his 5 english children? - if he didn't put them in private schools or pay tutors, then he'd be forced to force his children to lose a year of schooling (and possibly deter their education being discouraged having to learn a whole new language) and place them into a French School system.

I moved there when I was a kid from Toronto and didn't speak a word of french, however over time, with a bit I'd learned in school and out into the job market, I picked it up pretty fast, without being forced! My daughter, who is now 32, spoke french first before speaking english. She spoke both by the time she hit 3 yrs old. I wanted her to be multi lingual - a choice and she has certainly benefitted by both languages and has friends both french and english - but to force people, well, is communist and controlling and who can respect that?
