First of all I apologise to anyone who read that last blog entry....but reading it now reminds me how shitty I felt at the time.
In December I applied for a Disability Pension,two week ago I got a phone call from Canada Pension and was told they could do nothing for me,but to offer me a 100 percent disability pension.I was also informed it would be retroactive to April'06....BINGO...
Just cashed the cheque yesterday.
After all this time fighting with the pain my doctor decided to retire at the end of April....Now to find a new doctor....finally found one in Coquitlam,not to far from home.The first time I see him and tell him about all the leg pain he says he cannot prescribe any narcotics without my files from my old doctor.When I finally got them and tried to book a second appointment I was told he was sick but I could see the doctor covering for him.When I told him about the pain the fist thing he did was to offer medication I had used before with no results(anti inflamatories)He then told me to try Gabapentin which is used for seizures but also blocks nerve pain.Started taking them,and two days later the pain was 90 percent gone....BINGO..
He also gave me a prescription for Demerol,for the bad days.
I honestly can't remember when I felt so good!
Phoned my insurance company yesterday to let them know I had been granted the pension and gave them the monthly amount,the person I was talking to put me on hold for a couple minutes,then came back and told me I owed them $5400 dollars!!!
Which was everything they had paid me from day one.I then told this person I had been told it would just be a percentage,based on the amount of the pension.This person told me they would have to look at my policy "a little closer".Got a phone call three hours later....there was to be no reimbursement....and my monthly payments from them would remain the same!!!....Bingo....
So not much more to add,but IT SURE FEELS GOOD!!!

I need a doctor like that. I've also been fighting my insurance company and know exactly what bastards they can be. I finally won as well and was paid retro-actively, but after all that time fighting them, I was worse off than when I went off work! I have a lawyer who's helping with my ICBC case, and he said he'd also help me fight the insurance company in case they try to get back the money they paid me from any settlement I may get. Hope it works.
I have back pain from a car accident in 2005 and the doctors haven't done squat for me... sure I did the physio, but that didn't really help and its progressively getting worse. My doctors won't perscribe anything "habbit forming" that might actually help with the pain. They've done x-rays and nothing shows up, well duh... it's not a broken bone. I think it's nerve damage too since I get pain shooting down my legs sometimes as well as across my back (like in a line). So I've just been taking Tylenol and sometimes Tylenol 1, which still doesn't do much for the pain.
Glad things are working better for you though!! Know of any good doctors in Vancouver or Richmond???
