ok, i haven't posted in my blog in over a month so i guess it's time i get on that!!!!!

anyways, a few things have happened in the last month....where to begin? i have an old friend who i hadn't seen in years....i moved to calgary and she went across the country with katimavik, then she came home and i moved back to lethbridge and we started talking again and well, we're going out now, so i'm really happy about that! we have a lot in common and we talk for hours on end...i haven't felt this good in a long time... :D

well, i titled this blog entry poetry part 1 because i was reading some leonard cohen earlier, and i watched a new music video of his and let's just say very cool! i love leonard cohen, his lyrics are amazing...so i'm kinda in the mood for poetry. i don't feel like i'm ready to post any of mine, so for now i'm going to stick to quoting my favourite poems. so to start here's my fav leonard cohen song:

Suzanne

Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.

And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said "All men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them"
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom...

something to add

i forgot to mention moving to the region to be crashed through one or a couple of other regions so the crashed region doesn't know we came from canadaka

so here's the report i promised about region crashing.

i suppose the first thing i should say is don't make bonehead mistakes like forgetting to uncheck a box!

but seriously, i think that one of the most important things to do before going out to crash a region is to understand the mechanics of the game. i didn't really understand about influence until after i had been elected delegate. influence is accumulated daily and is tallied sometime overnight at the same time as the decisions you make on the daily issues you recieve take effect. if you are a regional delegate then you gain influence faster depending on how many endorsements you have.

i was surprised at how slowly influence is accumulated for delegates though.....especially since the word crashing is used. i guess the image i had in my mind was like a computer crashing, where one minute it works fine and the next it's locked up. so i thought it would be like all of a sudden all the nations move over to the crashed region and the next day you could have everyone booted out and password the region. to me this is crashing. but when we tried to crash a free democracy, it took me 2 weeks to gain enough influence to just put in a password, much longer than i anticipated.

i'm not sure what it would have been like if all of the nations from canadaka except for maybe 2 came over at once and endorsed me at once, since that's not what happened.

one thing i've learned is that we need to be super organized before we eventry to do this. i said this before when i suggested trying crashing in the first place. it seemed like everyone was like "yeah that's cool" but no one wanted to step up and do it so i did and then only a few people followed. i am very grateful for the people who did.

if we are going to try and do this again, then we need to plan it all out before we even leave canadaka. we need to decide unanimously who's going to stay behind as delegate for canadaka region, and who is going...

I HATE SARAN WRAP

saran wrap has got to be high on the worst invention list. i personally think it was invented by a woman for the sole purpose of confusing men. if not, there must have been a man-hating woman somewhere behind the scenes.

i mean come on, seriously. the stuff doesn't stick to the food you're trying to wrap up, but when you're trying to take it out of the box it ALWAYS sticks to itself and tangles up into a hopeless mess. and then there's the serrated metal bar for cutting it off when you have enough. not once have i EVER used saran wrap without taking a chunk out of my finger on that thing.

i think i'll stick to my cheap no-name ziplock baggies that don't ever close on the first try.

it pisses me off when people call george w bush (or any other US president, for that matter) the "leader of the free world"

last time i checked, the "free world" is mainly comprised of democratic countries.

i didn't get to vote for bush, i didn't get to vote against him either.

so who decided that he should be my leader?

we value democracy very much in our culture, so what's with the undemocratic accolade?
