so here's the report i promised about region crashing.
i suppose the first thing i should say is don't make bonehead mistakes like forgetting to uncheck a box!
but seriously, i think that one of the most important things to do before going out to crash a region is to understand the mechanics of the game. i didn't really understand about influence until after i had been elected delegate. influence is accumulated daily and is tallied sometime overnight at the same time as the decisions you make on the daily issues you recieve take effect. if you are a regional delegate then you gain influence faster depending on how many endorsements you have.
i was surprised at how slowly influence is accumulated for delegates though.....especially since the word crashing is used. i guess the image i had in my mind was like a computer crashing, where one minute it works fine and the next it's locked up. so i thought it would be like all of a sudden all the nations move over to the crashed region and the next day you could have everyone booted out and password the region. to me this is crashing. but when we tried to crash a free democracy, it took me 2 weeks to gain enough influence to just put in a password, much longer than i anticipated.
i'm not sure what it would have been like if all of the nations from canadaka except for maybe 2 came over at once and endorsed me at once, since that's not what happened.
one thing i've learned is that we need to be super organized before we eventry to do this. i said this before when i suggested trying crashing in the first place. it seemed like everyone was like "yeah that's cool" but no one wanted to step up and do it so i did and then only a few people followed. i am very grateful for the people who did.
if we are going to try and do this again, then we need to plan it all out before we even leave canadaka. we need to decide unanimously who's going to stay behind as delegate for canadaka region, and who is going to be the person who will stay to endorse the delegate. so i think it would be optimal if only 3 nations stay behind. one to be delegate, and 2 to endorse that delegate. next, the password should be changed and not displayed just before the crash is to happen. that way any counter-attack would be foiled. also, hte date and time for the nations should be pre-arranged unanimously so that all the nations move to the new region that is being crashed all at once. the new delegate ofthe crashed region should also be decided on unanimously before we even leave. that way, we can arrive all together and endorse all together all at once. there's no point in trying to crash a region unless we go and do it all together.
lastly, there needs to be no conversation regarding region crashing in the regional messaging thing, only telegrams between nations from canadaka. the last thing we want to do is to let the cat out of the bag once we get to a new region.
maybe i'll think of more to say about this later.
