...he has a few things to learn. Then again, don't we all?It has been a bit frustrating watching the goings-on over the past few weeks since the election. The opposition parties, their supporters, and the general media have been screaming for Mr. Harper's head on a platter since he didn't come out with a magic "save Canada" budget. The proroguing of Parliament pretty much put the icing on the cake.
Much of this diatribe seems to be based on some extreme form of hatred toward the Conservatives and in particular, Stephen Harper. That nasty hatred has been lurking - and boiling over from time to time - ever since Paul Martin and his war room goons spent a lot of time and money trying to portray Harper as nothing short of satanic!
Well, I for one think that he's done a pretty good job of building the Conservative party, putting it in power, and managing what a government can in terms of the economy. And many worldwide economists and governments would agree on that last point.
So, what's the problem? Has he not done a pretty good job of building and holding together his party? Just compare the current state of the Liberal party (unity) to help guide your thinking. If you can't manage a party, how can you manage a country?
Managing the economy? Good points again. And please don't pull out that tired, old, and inaccurate Liberal line of how they saved the economy and eliminated the deficit under Paul Martin. Nonsense. That was a sleight-of-hand exercise which essentially downloaded federal costs to the province, thus relieving the federal expense budget of a pile of money. Unfortunately, it's all taxpayers' money no matter where you put it. In fact, that little stunt by Martin and Chretien was irresponsible, as it inflicted damage on the health care system.
