Introduction

by Psudo

I've got a bit of an ego problem. I believe the things I think about are objectively interesting. I imagine people would be interested in hearing my thoughts on them. Full of myself, aren't I?

Evidence is mixed. I've been told I'm insightful and clear, a benefit to conversations. I've been told I'm dry and humorless, a detriment to conversations. There is surely some truth in both. Every time I think about it, I eventually conclude that I'm helping. There's obviously some ego there, but is it just ego?

Either way, I'm going to go on believing I have something valuable to say that people will enjoy reading. Egotist though I am, I concede that the topics are more interesting than their author. So after this post, I'll try to keep the self-reference to a minimum.

What kinds of topics? Politics, religion, history, science -- basically anything dealing with theories, philosophies, people, and their disagreements. I called it Enigmatica, which roughly means "the confusing machinery." I think that's a good description of how life feels: my intuition tells me there must be some predictable way that things work, but the more I learn about it the more elusive those governing principles become. That might not be the kind of thing you typically spend your free time on, but I'll try to make it an interesting read anyway.

See you in the future.
