In my mind those who talk about french taking over the country are fearmongers. The same holds true for french people who think the english want to rule Canada. If we accept all cultures within a strong Canada, why on earth should french or english be any different. Why should one be dominant.

As I've said before, I speak both languages - french and english, yet I'm not out to change anyone. I love people the way they are. Perhaps I can learn a thing or two from people who only wish to communicate with me. Maybe I'm a bit naive about this subject; it's just I think we should accept each other no matter what side of the coin we belong. No one is better and no one is worse.

Wars were created over such nonsense in history. I hope we've advanced enough to stop anything that would promote hatred.

Forcing people to become something they don't want to be is another a form of dictatorship. No one should ever be forced to learn french or english to please the other side.

Let's face it! I'm not saying we shouldn't learn each other's language and I'm not saying we should either. What I am saying is that we should encourage each other and allow each other to make this decision. If you force someone under water, instincts will make this one fight back. If you invite them for a cool swim and let them do their own thing, they may join without fear of being drowned.

Maybe if we decided to cross over and look into each other's cultures, we'd discover we are not so different from one another.
