I may not know much about Borat - what kind of a name is Borat anyhow! - but I've heard enough to realize he's ruffling more than a few feathers.

Do we call his talent shock humour! Tell me what you think.

See the image I've created, cartoon version of Borat at the Nudist Beach! Even the nudists are shocked. Yikes!

If those who are promoting the white poppy weren’t trying to invade the Remembrance Day Red Poppy symbol, why on earth did they bring it out at this time! They brought out the white so-called peace poppy at the same time as the red one.

Think of “In Flanders Fields.”

It feels as if someone has stepped on holy ground because it diminishes the value of the red poppy’s representation. It’s a signature of something we should hold dear to our hearts as Canadians.

The white poppy is simply a counterfeit of original. Nothing should replace the red poppy ever.

Just a reminder Folks this is Remberance Week.

Lest we forget.

My Father was a WWII veteran. Some of you out there know someone who was a vet or someone who is currently serving in Afghanistan. One of our young neighbours has been to Afghanistan already and says some day he will be forced to return. He says he doesn't mind because that's what they are working to do.

It's just occurs to me every time I see him that I like this chap; I hope he makes it back okay. All of them want to build a life with a family and home like the rest of us. It's so easy to forget some men and women are struggling in a foreign country doing their duty, living with the knowledge that their time could come up any minute. We want to pay respect to them.

We must never forget those who have paid this price, the ones who died before and the ones who went knowing it could be them. Not many are left.

When we see the sun come up every morning, we should think about the people who are standing for truth, duty and valour (RMC)

What will you do to remember them this week?

A while back I was watching a program on CBC with Mitsou interviewing a renowned Canadian Political Cartoonist. At one point in the interview he said women just don't make great political cartoonists; they just aren't funny. While it may be true that I'm not the funniest person in the world, I took this personally.

Not that my cartoons will make anyone fall backwards on the floor laughing; I do think my cartoons and caricatures are good enough to be in papers. Sometimes, I think political cartoons should offer more than a joke or a good laugh. In my view, poltical cartoons should make us think, or say, "Ah! I know what she is talking about! Ain't it the truth!" Sometimes they should create a picture of something we are trying to say to Canadians. This is what you need to think about or this is what's happening right now or this could happen. A good laugh doesn't hurt either.

Maybe I've got this all wrong, but I think I can offer this sort of political cartooning at least on a small scale. I'm not asking to take over the planet here.

As far as saying women just don't make good political cartoonists, I think they should give us gals a chance even if we fall short of making people laugh as men do.

Let's hear it for the girls!

Occasionally, over the years, I've met some pretty wonderful American people visiting Canada, and a few in the States. Thankfully, I was left with a positive impression that Americans are ordinary people like the rest of us.

Yet, though I'm not Anti-American, I see a little bit of what perhaps the world sees from dimmed glasses this powerful country. In a day where image means everything, America would do well to consider rebuilding the good neighbour's image to the rest of the world.

Apparently, the U.S.A. is bouncing on the world stage as the dreaded bully, enforcing it's ideas and desires with a clenched fist. It's their way or not at all. At least that's the impression to many. Who cares if the US wants to protect its freedoms and way of life against contradictory ideals.

With a world seeing the US from a carved mindset of resistance, a positive non-threatening image gets lost behind the muscle of its power. It doesn't matter to the rest of the world, if the US was created on freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Eyes are veiled behind a resistance to dominance.

To many in the world, the United States is an invader not just through military might, but also through television and movies, presenting itself as the mighty power never to fail or give in to defeat, always winning at everything.

Of course, these are just ideas of how the world sees the US. If we are to get along in this world , perhaps we need to stand for what we believe in, by allowing other countries to be true to their cultures, etc...

The real victory is in acceptance of each other.
