Paramount planning Cloverfield sequel

Quote:
Matt Reeves is in early talks with Paramount to direct a Cloverfield sequel, and, as was previously announced, he has also made a deal with GreeneStreet Films to direct The Invisible Woman.

Variety says the timing of the projects will depend on how quickly Paramount can complete discussions with Reeves, producer J.J. Abrams and writer Drew Goddard to come up with another monster story for the Cloverfield sequel. There's a good chance the sequel will be Reeves' next film, in which case he will direct The Invisible Woman afterward.

"Woman" is a Hitchcock-style thriller that probes the mind of a former beauty queen who turns to a life of crime to protect her family.

Reeves wrote the script and will produce with Abrams and GreeneStreet's John Penotti, Fisher Stevens and Tim Williams.

Frankly, I find this amazing because Cloverfield is only at $64 million after 2 weeks and might have a tough time making more than $200 million. Perhaps it will make a lot on DVD.

I saw it. It was actually pretty cool and many parts well done, but some parts also sucked really badly. The whole reason why they go into Manhattan is also really stupid and poorly done, but we wouldn't have a story otherwise, so...

And if shaky camera work makes you nauseous, don't see this movie. I find that the shaky camcorder work actually makes it feel like you are there with them. It's very well done in that sense. :)

I got a heads up from my son that this was possibly the worst movie he ever seen and doesn't even recommend it as a rental!

I haven't seen it myself, but this is one of those films you either love or hate. The concept (Blair witch meets Godzilla) behind the movie is great and the viral marketing campaign was brillaint, but a lot of people have left the theatre complaining of nausea. Not good if you're looking to make a lot of money.
