This movie, based on the novel Point of Impact by Stephen Hunter, is about a sniper who is asked by the government to help stop an assassination attempt.

Mark Wahlberg stars as Bob Lee Swagger, a good ole boy from Tennessee, who joins the Marines and becomes an elite sniper. After his spotter is killed in a botched mission in Africa, he leaves the service. Colonel Johnson (Danny Glover) asks for Swagger’s help. This turns into a set-up and Swagger is soon on the run from the authorities who think he tried to kill the President. He is forced to turn to unlikely allies to clear his name.

Michael Peña (World Trade Center) provides excellent comic relief as the poor FBI agent Swagger encounters shortly after he goes on the run. Swagger disarms him, handcuffs him to a pipe and steals his car. Thoroughly embarrassed, he is demoted and spends his free time trying to solve what happened. Soon, he is on the run himself, helping Swagger try to get even with the shadowy group behind the conspiracy.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), the movie is fast-paced and action packed, with car chases, explosions, and ambushes, as well as plenty of opportunities for Swagger to show off his abilities as a sniper.
