The Departed 2?
by bootlegga on Wed Jan 31, 2007 2:03 pm
Warner is in talks to make a sequel/prequel to The Departed, Martin Scorsese's biggest box office success.
Quote:
The trade (Hollywood Reporter) says "Departed" writer William Monahan is working on a take that would bring back the temperamental foul-mouthed cop played by Mark Wahlberg, who received an Oscar nomination for the role, and introduce a new character to be played by none other than Robert De Niro.
Scorsese would need to approve any take before development was to move forward. A prequel is not being ruled out, either. The Departed is an adaptation of the Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs, to which Warner Bros. acquired the rights in 2003. The studio also had option rights to the movie's two sequels.

When I first read the title, I though, "How the heck can you have a sequel when you kill all the main characters?"
Hands down, that was the best ending I've seen to a movie in a while... laughed all the way out of the theatre.
