Marley & Me surprised many and took first place with $37 million, while Adam Sandler's Bedtime Stories edged out Brad Pitt for 2nd with $28.1 million. Pitt's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button opened in third with just over$27 million. Tom Cruise's Valkyrie, based on the plot to assassinate Hitler during WW2, opened in 4th place with $21.5 million. Jim Carrey's Yes Man rounded out the top five with $16.5 million.

So I went to see Valkyrie on saturday and I was looking forward to a interesting WW2 movie - despite the Tom factor. However I was thoroughly disappointed. Seriously - different accents for all the people who were supposed to be german. Bland colourist job. And the acting made a slow plot even slower. The only saving grace was the costuming - but if they had messed up the German uniforming I would have WAY more to rant about.

Benjamin Button however was impeccable. Beautifully done.
