I am the newest member of the FL Volunteer Fire Department.

I'm pretty excited about this. I went to my first fire practice on Wednesday, and was given all the info I need. I'll be trained on a whole bunch of stuff, including ladders, ropes, first response, the obvious fire safety, first aid and all that jazz. I got to use the jaws of life to help tear a car apart, which was pretty neat. Heavy things those jaws of life are, but super awesome.
Since all the RCMP auxilliary positions are filled up, I think this will be perfect for me. It's a team effort, I have the opportunity to help people, I get to learn a bunch of new stuff and it's physically demanding, which I love.
I'm going to be one busy person when September rolls around. I'll be working and volunteering my time as a firefighter and as a volleyball and basketball coach. It's all good though. I like to keep busy.
