She's hot out there! Temperature rose to 33.5 degrees yesterday, making work nearly impossible. Even after taking all the precautions such as drinking a bunch of water, and wearing a hat, I had a minor bout of heat exhaustion. My boss made me do some slack off work after that, so it was all good. ;)

After I got home from work at 4:00, I went to bed just to get up at 10:00 to work my other job at the sawmill. It was bloody hot in there too, even at 3-4 in the morning. All I do is walk around though, so it's not anything strenuous. I've gotta go back tonight too. :o I'm rolling in the cash though, so I've got no reason to complain. :D

It's 33 degrees now, and I feel like blahhhhhhh. Hopefully it'll cool down a bit so working is a little more bearable.

Busy, busy! I've been doing some heavy studying for my First Responder's certificate. I responded to my first emergency call at 1am this morning. It was a MVA just out of town, so I drove to the hall as fast as I could, but the rescue truck had already gone out. Myself and the other three people there suited up and hopped into the fire truck, but got a call from rescue saying the situation was under control.

It was probably for the best though. I'm not sure what I would have done. I don't have any training or experience, so at the moment I'd probably be more of a hindrance than a help. I'll have to talk to the chief about that, and find out what role I would have until I get my FR certificate.

I can't wait until I get it, so I can finally be of some use. I'll get to that point soon enough. :)

Working 16.5 hours straight is a bit much. I spent 7am - 2pm weedwhacking, getting a head start on all the work that's to be done before Mouse Mountain Days, which starts July 1st, (overtime pay! :D) and spent 2:30pm - 11:30pm walking around the sawmill, making sure it didn't burn down or something of the sort. My body is hating me for it now, but I really like the paycheck. 8)

Time for bed. My body is craving sleep.

I am the newest member of the FL Volunteer Fire Department. :D I'm pretty excited about this. I went to my first fire practice on Wednesday, and was given all the info I need. I'll be trained on a whole bunch of stuff, including ladders, ropes, first response, the obvious fire safety, first aid and all that jazz. I got to use the jaws of life to help tear a car apart, which was pretty neat. Heavy things those jaws of life are, but super awesome. :D

Since all the RCMP auxilliary positions are filled up, I think this will be perfect for me. It's a team effort, I have the opportunity to help people, I get to learn a bunch of new stuff and it's physically demanding, which I love.

I'm going to be one busy person when September rolls around. I'll be working and volunteering my time as a firefighter and as a volleyball and basketball coach. It's all good though. I like to keep busy.
