I started my new job yesterday. I went from being a groundskeeper to being..... a STRIPPER! Woohoo!
Perhaps I should clarify. I began working in the sawmill yesterday. As with most new employees, they made me a strip layer. Basically, I fill these magazines with strips so that when the stacker stacks the lumber, the strips are laid in between each layer so all lumber will dry evenly in the kiln. It's the hardest job in the mill, but it makes the time go by quickly since I'm constantly busy. It's murder on the wrists too, but I'm tough... I can handle it. Hopefully they'll put me somewhere else soon though. I don't mind working at all, but laying strips is not fun.

My former boss let me keep my village job until I started at the mill too, so I didn't lose a day of work. That was pretty nice of him, since my last day was supposed to be a week ago. I really am going to miss that job. It was so much fun and the people were the best people to work with. They've told me to come back on coffee/lunch breaks to visit, so I will. What can I say, they love me. It's not hard to though. ;)

I've signed up to take a lumber grading course, so hopefully they'll let me take it. If I pass, and actually start grading lumber, I'll be getting some nice fat paychecks. I'll need 'em 'cause there's so much stuff I want to buy. There's a camera I've had my eye on for a little while... a Nikon D80. Not cheap. :| I also need to purchase a little car to get me to and from work.

Letsee... I got a guitar today. Never played one in my life, but I'm determined to learn and become at least half-decent. After the guitar, I want to learn how to play the piano. Someday.

......

And why the heck are all the trackbacks I have lead to porn/viagra links? ANDANDAND what makes anyone think I want my shoutbox thing filled with online poker ads? Is there a way to get rid of them? When I try to delete the trackbacks, a screen comes up saying that the file doesn't exist. Also, there's just too many shouts in the shoutbox to delete them all one by one. In fact, according to the link, there are 502 shouts. :|

Some individuals or companies have abused the TrackBack feature to insert spam links on some blogs (see sping). This is similar to comment spam but avoids some of the safeguards designed to stop the latter practice. As a result, TrackBack spam filters similar to those implemented against comment spam now exist in many weblog publishing systems. Many blogs have stopped using trackbacks because dealing with spam became too burdensome.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TrackBack Seems complicated... I just checked cause I was curious what exactly trackbacks are and do. I'm still not so sure... :?

I don't have a clue either. :P I just find it annoying that my blog is being used by a third party to advertise crap. :x

Maybe you should limit the people who can comment on your site to registered members only. Seems they are spamming your shoutout like mad. Boot 'em!!

That happened to me as well, a few times - I certainly didn't have 500 of them, though.

Should limit who can post replies to members only - I think that fixes the problem.

good luck at your new job and hopefully on becoming a grader! I used to work next to a saw mill in a wood shop and those guys were always goofing off visiting and eating donuts at the shop....they made good money too.

good luck with the guitar and on all your other wishes too!:)

Good luck with the job. I had a male friend who did that job at Plateau, and he couldn't hack it. I think he was let go after a week. I also knew a girl who did that job quite well though. At any rate good luck to you. You'll be making some big paychecks now.

... I did that, and it worked, thanks. :D

Thanks! I hear it's tough, but I think I can do it.

Thanks for the offer. I tend to be a visual/hands on learner, so I'm not sure if or how it would work... but if I've got any questions, I'll toss a PM your way.

Thanks :) I've been doing it for a week now, and it hasn't been too bad. All bruises and pain will all be worth it once payday comes around. ;)
