Down with the dysfunctionality.


Jon and Kate plus eight are soon to be no more. Am I celebrating. Sort of.

I have never seen the show, I have never heard of them before they started to appear on my news almost weekly if not daily.

It just seemed like the relationship was dysfunctional, and it could not have been working for them or more importantly the children. Children always come first, and as much as I hate the concept of a broken home, if the drama is always going to be ongoing, then you need to call it quits, if not for yourself, then for the kids.


First it was rumours of his affair. I thought let's cut the guy some slack, sometimes a friend is just a friend, but then the "friend" was caught also driving his car, and her brother is telling tales of it being so much more than that. Now he could have been lying, but clearly there was more to this friendship than met the eye.

Then the rumours of her cheating or accusations started. The fact that they had eight little lives riding on them, escaping everyone throughout the drama of it all.

Then there were rumours of them fighting, her spanking her daughter, and all this other junk, that was no bodies business. It wasn't my business, I personally did not care, but obviously, most families will not last in the glare of the spotlight, it will take it's toll as it did on these two, and here we are.

So there divorce papers were filed on Monday and as the articles said. Kate plus 8 separate. Cute.

I hope they can figure out there stuff for the kids, because at the end of the day, the kids are all that matter.




The next couple that were in the news till it made me sick. The Chris Brown and Rhianna affair.

Well actually his alleged affair and her battered and bruised face. Who could forget those images.

After the incident happened and there was the arrest, I thought that was the end of that, but then no they got back together, and you heard rumours from her friends that maybe she was still getting yelled at, I just thought, if it's gotten to the stage where it's so dysfunctional that he can hit you like you are Tina turner and he is ick, then you need to get out.

I don't think that Chris Brown on his own is a bad person, but with Rhianna, it's not a good look for him, or for her clearly. I am in no way shape or form excusing his behaviour or what he did to her, but I do know that if you are around the wrong people, they can bring out the worst in you. Just like Targets having to be around informants day in day out.

I think people want love to last, they want things to work out, I think that's why he gave her the ring, and they tried for the quickie reunion. They wanted it to seem like it was not that bad, but it was that bad. His actions were uncontrolled, his temper could have killed her, and the thing is, because he did not take the time to find out why he did it, there was no way to say that it would not happen again.

The reality is most times if a man will hit once, they will hit again and again. If you are a guy and you find that you are in a situation where you are putting your hands on a woman, get out of that situation, get some counselling. If you are a woman in an unhealthy abusive situation, get out, get some counseling. The relationship will not reflect well on you, and there is a good chance that he will kill you. If you have kids, even more of an incentive to get out. Lucky for us, Chris and Rhianna did not have any kids.

They broke up and a week later Chris was dating an ex girlfriend, (Yeah love is just so eternal), and Rhianna recently found someone else. They both seem to be doing better and that's what really counts, and more importantly, I hope I won't have to read about them anymore, because it was so annoying.

Lastly he got community service and 5 years probation. I think this issue could have been handled between the two of them, because again it was no ones business, but Rhianna is an influence to millions of young girls and so society did have to put pressure on for that relationship to end. I think in this case it was for the best. I know there are lot's of Chris and Rhianna fans who will feel different, but I think in this case it was what was for the best, and it was what was healthy.

Young guys and girls need to understand that these types of relationships are not healthy, they are abusive, and they usually do not end well.

We did not hear too much about this one, but I will list it under my down with the dysfunctional.

Recently Hulk Hogan, lesser known as Terry Bollea.

Hulk Hogan decided to enhance his 25 year marriage by having an affair with his daughters best friend. For some reason this did not go over too well, his wife decided to divorce him. Oh there were a whole bunch of other dysfunctional things ongoing, but the affair is what did it.

Then to get back at him, she decided to hook up, with a guy who went to the same school as her son. Her new man is 19 years old. She is being called a cougar.

First of all, guys if you are in a relationship and you are even half serious about that person, you are not going to do stupid things to mess that up. People do stray, things can happen, but remember guys, hell has no fury. That saying exists for a reason.

I don't think the Hulksters wife would be off with some 19 year old, if he had not decided to cheat on her with the daughters best friend. I mean it's not a fun thing to have happen, and the results of this are in and they are not pretty.

Hulk Hogan is upset that he does not have a wife. Gee I wonder why, but recently he made a comment saying that he "totally understood OJ", was cause for concern.

He has tried to drive her new man Charlie off the road. So though I really do like Hulk Hogan, I think when a guy makes a threat like that, or takes some kind of action in that direction, maybe you need to take it seriously.

I have respected the Hulkster most of my life, but that comment was pretty bad, that coupled with the fact that that Charlie says the Hulk tried to run him off the road, they might want to take the situation seriously.

It's too bad, because he thought that he was going to cheat and she was just going to take it, and the wife of, 25 years, decided to get some of her own back.

A lot of the younger ones today, have this sort of mentality. They have the one girl wife, and they think it's ok to have a bunch of other relationships on the side. Thus in turn causing a lot of Maury Povich drama. They have the main girl, who they give a ring of ownership to or something like that, there's a trendy name for it, can't recall it off hand, and they conduct themselves in this manner, and large portions of society think this is ok.

Kids it's not ok. Marriage is about forsaking all others, giving up the others and settling for one. If you are going to be seeing others on the side, do the world a favor and don't get married. This goes double for you adults who think the swinging thing is ok. If you want to swing, stay single, or just date, but once you get married, or plan to be in a long term relationship, then keep in mind what marriage traditionally was designed for.


My prayers are with the Jolie-Pitts and their children. I am hoping that they can work out any ruff patches they may be going through, before they fall into the above dysfunctional categories.


So again, as much as I like stable families, sometimes it's better and safer to get out, sometimes the dysfunctionality is too great, and primarily, if you have kids and they are going to suffer, then sometimes a relationship needs to be put down, it's just safer and healthier for everyone involved, and there are many items more news worthy.
