I got a few questions from "jimbunting" as a result of my last entry. They were good questions so I figured I'd answer them like this rather than a response in the comments section, so here we go.
Have you been back for any extended period of time, in Canada, since you left at age 14?
Nope. When we initially moved to the states it was (unfortunately) to Florida. Thankfully we were only there for a year and a half and then moved up to Detroit, which is actually better than Florida, surprisingly enough. After getting my driver's license in Detroit I would visit friends in Burlington (where we lived before Florida) often. I think the longest visit I have had since moving away has been about 7 days.
Have you been keeping up with news here in Canada?
For a long time I didn't keep up with current events in Canada, but for the last 3 years or so I have tried to keep abreast of things. Actually for the past year I have paid more attention to Canadian news than American, which is really hard because when you live here in the states it's impossible to avoid most news. I am very interested in learning about Canadian political events that shaped the country after World War II. Especially the decline in relations between Quebec and the rest of Canada. Also I find that since I have been away for so long I am still passionate about my feelings on Quebec where most Canadians are sick to death of hearing about anything regarding it. hah!
If you're wondering - my political stance is pretty firmly in the NDP, but all politicians are scum so I have a hard time actually being excited about a party. I won't be campaigning for anyone anytime soon.
