Nevertheless, it's September and that means that I'm back in Prince George for what should be my lest year of university for a while. Which means it's back to the daily grind of class and teaching and poverty. It also back to life of living in dorms with the wretched internet speeds and inadequate cable TV.

But it's also back to doing something I really want to do as a career as opposed to my shitty summer job which does nothing but motivate me to keep at this whole teaching business.

anyways, a few things have happened in the last month....where to begin? i have an old friend who i hadn't seen in years....i moved to calgary and she went across the country with katimavik, then she came home and i moved back to lethbridge and we started talking again and well, we're going out now, so i'm really happy about that! we have a lot in common and we talk for hours on end...i haven't felt this good in a long time... :D

well, i titled this blog entry poetry part 1 because i was reading some leonard cohen earlier, and i watched a new music video of his and let's just say very cool! i love leonard cohen, his lyrics are amazing...so i'm kinda in the mood for poetry. i don't feel like i'm ready to post any of mine, so for now i'm going to stick to quoting my favourite poems. so to start here's my fav leonard cohen song:

Suzanne

Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.

And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said "All men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them"
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom...

But it seems we've been pretty busy here ourselves. Assholery and idiocy abound on the CKA forums at the moment. These people can't see shit, and then some of them have the nerve to tell me to pull my head out of my ass...

Anyway, just head on over there, and you'll see what I mean. Hopefully this will die down soon, but it seems that God has an endless supply of idiots who seem drawn here.]]>

<![CDATA[Lucas getting out of the movie business?]]> http://www.canadaka.net/blog/bootlegga/lucas_getting_out_of_the_movie_business_b-704.html http://www.canadaka.net/blog/bootlegga/lucas_getting_out_of_the_movie_business_b-704.html Quote:
Variety talked to "Star Wars" creator George Lucas, who says that Lucasfilm is getting out of the movie business. "We don't want to make movies. We're about to get into television. As far as Lucasfilm is concerned, we've moved away from the feature film thing, because it's too expensive and it's too risky. I think the secret to the future is quantity. Because that's where it's going to end up."

Having said that, Lucasfilm's exit from feature films is not instant or absolute, mostly because Indiana Jones 4 is still in development. "Steve (Spielberg) and I are still working away, trying to come up with something we're happy with. Hopefully in a short time we will come to an agreement. Or something," Lucas said.

He is also working on a film about the Tuskegee airmen of World War II called Red Tails. "I've been working on that for about 15 years," he said, adding he's also been working on "Indy 4" for 15 years.

And Lucas Animation does plan to start making feature films -- eventually. "Right now we're doing television, which looks great. I'm very very happy with it," he said of his animation division. "And out of doing the animation, we're getting the skill set and the people and putting the studio in place so we can do a feature. But it's probably going to be another year before we have the people and the systems in place to do a feature film."

Lucas calls himself "semi-retired" but reiterated his plans to direct, "small movies, esoteric in nature," after his other projects are launched. He expects to serve as executive producer on the two features and the TV shows, including the live-action "Star Wars" series.

In related news, Lucas said Thursday afternoon Lucasfilm's CG-animated Star Wars TV series could be on the air as soon as next year, even though he hasn't finalized a deal with any of the networks yet.

I guess to keep up my quota I am going to try for five really very short postings, inside of one really long post.

STD Vaccine may not be safe.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/business ... -9747r.htm

The first it to say that I found out that families can opt out of the forced vaccinations. In Texas although it has not been widely reported families can opt out on religious or moral grounds. This means that your daughter is not required to get the STD shot if she does not want to. This is a good thing, because there are several side effects and some sound more harmful than first anticipated.

Quote:
The National Vaccine Information Center yesterday warned state officials to investigate the safety of a breakthrough cancer vaccine as Texas became the first state to make the vaccine mandatory for school-age girls.
Negative side effects of Gardasil, a new Merck vaccine to prevent the sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer, are being reported in the District of Columbia and 20 states, including Virginia. The reactions range from loss of consciousness to seizures.
"Young girls are experiencing severe headaches, dizziness, temporary loss of vision and some girls have lost consciousness during what appear to be seizures," said Vicky Debold, health policy analyst for the National Vaccine Information Center, a nonprofit watchdog organization that was created in the early 1980s to prevent vaccine injuries.

I don't know about anyone else, but I would be really concerned about giving a 11, 12 year old a vaccine that will only reduce the chances of cervical cancer by 40%. There are 10 strains of the Human Pap that can lead to possible cervical cancer...
