My daughter and I were throwing around ideas when she came up with a GREAT Idea for me to try for the designs on commissioned products.
She's a fab cartoon artist but unfortunately not too comfortable with drawing with a mouse (no, i don't have any fancy programs or "pen and mousepad" to draw with) and is not a fan of the internet so she's even less savvy than I when it comes to things like that.
She said "Mom, why don't you do cartoon like bodies of people and thier cat(s) or dog(s) - and get folks to send you their own facial pictures for you to add to the characters!!" GREAT Idea, problem is "mom" is not too great at voiding or making the background image - transparent. I don't have a problem making the background transparent when adding something to an image or graphic that is premade, it's making the background of the new image invisible that I have a problem with.

I'm adding 2 downsized examples of a few of the designs I came up with (had to add the borders and backgrounds to fill in the space I can't get rid of).
Also I find that when I put the image into gif format and try to make the backgrounds transparent, it takes away from the quality of the picture itself... grrrrrr - really frustrated, winter is the hardest time of the year and I'm just tryin' to make some funds to keep things rolling! I think this new idea my daughter came up with, could be a hot seller for us - IF "mom here" could figure out how to get rid of the damn backgrounds!

I did up some products and the designs look out of place - blotchy - blocked off and rigid, not quite what I was trying to achieve! PLUS, should a customer be interested and place an order, then I'm concerned as to how I can add the...

Time for bed as soon as I unwind. Luckily for me my daughter had a couple of days off with the weather and lent me a hand.
We removed the old screening off the door we were given, all staples, nails and borders - the door was a little warped and it actually helped with keeping it closed tightly to the wall. We cut the galvanized wire then screwed that in place with clamps - to replace the screened area. Now, with that door up, it allots for better ventalation, increased lighting and visibility into the room where the older boys will be kept.

There was an old 3 tiered shelf that was up on the wall in the hallway between the two rooms. It was braced to a bracket like shelf beneath it for additional stablity i guess - otherwords, rig a ma rolled onto the wall. We got all that unscrewed and down so that we can tier the singular longated shelves I have. The individual shelves will give the crew more beds and actually, additional space for excercise. The shelves are about 4 ft long and 10" wide, they have a small backing on them too which makes them easier to screw into the wall. The length of them helps with the wall beams so that they can be screwed in securely and I'm anxious to get those lined up and in place.

I blocked off the "closet" areas in both rooms. I put up 2x4's along the inside trim, to brace the panel I used - nothing will be screwed into those, so fewer screws were needed and less damage to the walls later on too.

Since the floor is squared off cement with deep 2" wide crevices, I built counter areas along 3 sides of the rooms, This narrows down the floor space needed and brings the critters up to a level that is easier to clean and less bending too. The second room, is getting an upper level, or second level above the counter top, for additional excercise space and sectioned off caging. Tomorrow and the next, we will cut the particle board, to lay over the remaining uncovered areas and then I have white speckled, 12"x12"...

Ok, c'mon now, we've got some new Bumper Stickers that even if we sold 200 of them, it would support the rescue for only ONE month, "excluding" the animal's food and kitty litter.... so, we're not here getting rich quick eh...

The Bumper Sticker I designed, is for those who care about 4 legged critters - it promotes the adoptions of critters from any local shelter/rescue AND anyone of like mind that reads it, gets a smile brought into their day! So for a couple of bucks *$5.98 plus postage*, you make a couple of folks smile, you promote a good cause and ... the design says a little something about you, in the process...

HAVE YOU SEEN OR HEARD OF THIS DOG?? SHE'S TATTOOED AND MISSING in S. Alberta!
Image "Bobbi" MISSING from High River Area!! Do you live nearby or know someone there? The Search is On! (more about this sweetie, below)

But first:
I have to start with the Kind gestures that speak a thousand words and are worth a million bucks!!

I've been falling behind between the two houses with the move. There's been a ton of stuff to do at the new place just with cleaning, scrubbing, disinfecting, repainting and building, in prep for the new arrivals.
I conversed with a gent the past few weeks, over misfortune with his pets and in kindness, he wanted to do something for me.
My daughter is my main helper, she is afterall the most convenient but has been working out on the farm still. Normally she gets laid off late November, but this year, they've found more for her to do than usual. This is great for her, helps with the paycheck right - but not so great for me.
I needed a door between the living room and kitchen and one for the top of the stairs that leads into the living room. I've almost got one room downstairs completed (occupants are already testing it out) and I've got the start of the framework to build up on, in the second room - already begun. I'm building everything to be removable so that when the time comes, everything comes with me and can be rebuilt elsewhere. (helps the critters settle in faster too when everything "appears" the same)
I'm setting up the upstairs, so I can leave the kitchen, bathroom and mini hallway, basically animal free with exception to the dog. The living...
