A unanimous decision was made for the Scoeity that we will no longer be placing Adoptions as a priority - as a matter of fact, it's no longer considered on our agenda. IF there is a volunteer or helper that creates a bond with an animal in our care and they seek to adopt, then this will be considered.
We will be sticking to Animal Assisted Therapy as previously planned.
We've based this decision on 9 facts.

1.) FOURTEEN adoptions - 11 of which were free in all this time.(8 ended up back)
2.) I converse with 3 other shelters that are in other counties and they have reached hundreds in numbers and one in the city that has reached thousands in all the time they offer adoptions.
3.) Cats are a dime a dozen around here.
4.) We do not do Barn Cats
5.) Classified Ads, Newspaper Ads, thousands of Internet Sites, other Shelters, SPCA, Humane Society's all have animal pets that are in NEED of Homes, the stats are appauling!
6.) Too much competition.
7.) With an on-going trend of "Pet Lovers" there is an influx of Pets for Sale - for $$$$ and we feel to some this has become a money making venture where so many will be euthanized due to the lack of homes.
8.) There's more animals than there are people to take them in. Again the stats are appauling
9.) Due to the malice and losses we've had imposed because of hatred.

Three of us will be taking AAT Courses through a U.S. based Institution - just so we can have a damn paper to say we know what we're doing, even tho we do. We hope that this will ease some finger pointing and other.

We are seeking a Movie Production Company - Film Maker, to produce our story as we feel there has been sufficient incidences to hold an audience for 90 minutes, hell even a two part series, there's been so much happen. I've spent most part of the day doing research and searches for contacts in these fields.

We will be sticking to our Foster for Life Programs, Meetings in Church basements, Spay and Neuter Campaigns and other related programs that perhaps permit us into schools and other.

We will also be instructin AAT Courses when our own are completed.

Now it has come to my attention that I perhpas view county residents as "Hicks" and that's the furthest from the truth.
There's a-l-o-t of money in this county, folks sure do alot of travelling and then come back to the safety of what they can "control".
And we sure have been manipulated, controlled and conspired against by folks who feel they have a right - in the name of "control".
Since the time of moving here, in a county almost smack in the middle of two vastly growing cities - all I've had shoved down my throat is "the way things are done around here" and at 51 yrs old, I don't need someone telling me how to live, controlling or manipulating my life, my family and our lifestyle. We are NOT doing anything illegal, immoral or wrong. I keep saying I shoulda opened a real Cat House - to support the shelter - then maybe they'd have something to point at.

Somehow, I will find a way to buy into a property so that when the trouble makers want to make a complaint to the Home Owner, they will have to deal with me and I find that highly unlikely as they like to do things behind people's backs. They can't backstab me when they have to deal directly with me and that in itself will evade a load of problems.

In under a year, we had a place, were presented with a pre-dated lease that I bucked about, then we could only use the home for storage, then it was do what you want with it, then a new lease with a $200 raise that I bucked about and now we have to move on account of "rumors"
Talk about being controlled and manipulated!
And yes, the gentleman pulling the strings is in fact a millionaire!

It's amazing that I haven't shoved my fist down someone's throat to pull out their heart, but I don't think I'd find one in the empty chest cavity.
There are only 2 things that have stopped me from "reacting" and that's my family and the critters, both don't merit being further jeopordized on account of folks who power trip.
IF anyone knows my past track record, it's the RCMP and I'm quite certain they know I've been a REALLY GOOD GIRL!!!! considering my past.
Nah, my family and critters are my world and I'd sooner beat them with my mind and not my fists!

I have a gland disorder.
I've had brain surgery, I had a tumor removed from my pituitary on Nov 7th 1977 at the Montreal Neurogical Institute - I have an abundance of adrenylin and other side effects that I've had to learn how to keep in line. There's been a couple of occasions in my life that not even 4 men could hold me down - I use to black out - not remember - when someone pushed and pushed to make me angry - so I've learned to channel that energy into more positive venues, rather than get physical.
When I'm mad, I build, move things and do other physical activities to drain the adrenylin over-flow - it works for me and this is just one other example of dispersing that energy.
I - WE - want to do something good and can't believe the ignorance we've met up with AND there are some dynomite folks around here, good people, who with time and things mellowing out, will come forward.

Other than myself (and some compassionate people who have taken it upon themselves to help strays) there are no shelters in this community.
The next county over has 4.
Lethbridge has 8.
And our local Vet, is on a 'board of directors for a society in the next county, however they do not represent a facility.
They "won't represent me" on account of the folks who won't use their services if they do - and frankly, where are those folks going to go to see a Vet? Are they going to travel 150 kms or 90 kms to go see a vet in one of the cities. I highly doubt it.
AND little to their knowledge, a couple of city vets have in fact done me spays and neuters for free to help the cause.
Disappointed is not the word.

I am so upset, my chemistry is very unbalanced these days and the critters sure feel it, know it and have been acting out. They are creating me a ton of work that normally doesn't excist. Plus, spring is in the air and they are restless.

Folks have one thing right and that this is a pretty sad situation (which is why we are now seeking someone to produce a movie based on all the negative events that have occured) I'm certain theres enough pet lovers in N. American who would be interested in our story.

And in the meantime, we are no longer seeking adoptions of the animals - just programs.
We are NOT taking in anymore at this time with exception to 3 females we sighted and have been watching as they mature. We haven't been able to trap them because our trap was busted. It's being fixed by a helper and once it is, we will trap the girls. We had hoped to catch them before they reached mating age, but unfortunately, we now think the 3 are pregnant. DAMN!

We need financing to buy a home and that's the main priority at this moment.
I have a revenue coming in from back taxes and I am hoping it will suffice to get my AAT Course and a down payment. I'm so glad I held off, because now is the time I truly need it the most.
I tried to get backing to finance 5 homes, 3 yrs ago, to turn over.
Banks said no because there was no property value here - but with the flow of incoming residents to Alberta, homes that weren't turning over within 1-5 yrs are now turning over within 1-3 months.... I'm pretty upset about all that too. To have bought those 5 houses, applied my talents, employed a couple of locals (for under $5,000) I'd have turned a profit of $60,000. and to me, with nothing right now, I'd have been ok -
I know of folks who could help me, but they won't because of all the hardships and lack of good that has occured and - they see me as someone else - someone who could serve their own purpose by doing something for them - oh, don't get me wrong, I've been offered some hefty salary to leave and serve their purpose, but that's not who I am and to be good at something, one has to have the heart for it and the offers I've received - are not me.
So on that note, I'm off to restructure the website due to our recent decisions - there's a ton of changes to be made and frankly, I still haven't been able to change the addy at the bottom of the 320 pages that excist on the site - just as well, since we have to move again!
Research and contacts to get our story out through a Movie, the Play that needs to get into production and so much to do.
