I had to go into the city on the weekend, so a bud of mine obliged to do the drive.
Chores always take up more time than I realize sometimes and before I knew it - it was 2 p.m. - I hadn't even had breakfast yet and had hoped to stop for some bacon and eggs.

We stopped in Mossleigh - a quaint little village off the side of the highway, where the restaurant offers some good down home cookin! I stop there whenever I can for a treat.

My first question to the waitress was "I know it's late, but can I still get breaky?" She answered "no" but the cook peered out and said - "ya sure, for you, you can have breaky - what do you want?"
There was an elderly gent sitting there, smilin and said to me "runnin late are ya?" and of course I answered and said "much later than I thought!"

After the cook finished cookin my breaky, he went and sat with the gent and asked him if "his kitty was with him" and the gent answered "but of course"
needless to say, this caught my attention, so I veered around and asked the gent if I'd heard right and he was more than glad to answer....

"The crew boys found 'er and she had a swollen and bloody eye (it's called an eye ulcer and is a sign of virus) and they were about to shoot 'er when I came along and said I'd take 'er in and see what I could do for her"
He went on to say "I had a beer and thought that maybe the boys had the right idea to "shoot 'er", she looked pretty bad and after cleaning her up with a warm damp rag and some polysporin, I thought that maybe I could save her"

"She's my best friend now, comes everywhere with me - I think, she thinks she's a dog!" So I asked if I could meet her and he took me out to his vehicule.
There she was, sitting on the dash, meowing as soon as she saw her "dad" - prancing back and forth along the dash with anxiety, waiting for him to opent he door and greet her!
When he opened the door, she immediately went to him and was quite verbal, stretching out to smell me... he put her back on the seat and she stretched out to greet me. She's about 6 months old now, blind in her lame eye, but full of spunk and life! He told me that she kept scratching at her ears and he wasn't sure what to do but had been cleaning them with polysporin, so I took a look and she had ear mites. I told him how vets have a special pill like serum that is placed on the back of their necks to hinder eggs from hatching and travelling back to the ear and he kinda solemly said that he really couldn't afford a $100 visit to the vet for ear mites, so I offered to lend a hand and visit him this week to help clean her ears and show him what to do so he could repeat the procedure, he smiled and reached over and hugged me - so I will be off to see him tomorrow or the day after to see if I can lend a hand....

It really made my day to see that the gent had saved her life and was so compassionate about his little love!
As they drove off, I noticed she had hopped up on his shoulder as they drove away.
What a pair they made!
It certainly gave me incentive!
chow for now!
