There's been another incident with RCMP involvement - concerning my family -
I was dropped off in that village yesterday, my intention to go and clean at my daughter's old place, cut grass and snip the hedges - I stopped at the grocery store after being dropped off to grab some cheesies and a pop to take with me - my daughter moved out the first of the month and is settled into her new place - away from that village.
Now my daughter is an immaculate type - she was raised in a spotless house and likes things that way, but for the sake of it all, she wanted to get down and wash the floors, do one last over on the 4 carpets there and leave it smelling nice and clean - so I offered to do it as she has been working over time 7 days a week - to pay for her new place and pay for the last month's rent at her old place.
Law requires to give a month's notice, but she'd found her new place in the mid of last month and obviously had to start her notice from the beginning of this month. So she had to pay an additional month's rent as her month's notice and it gave me time to try and sell the engine from the winnebego. We were down there 2 weeks ago and cleaned the entire winnebego - leaving some 1" wood and beams in there that we thought would belp with the removal of the engine. We had the tow truck driver come down and have a look to see how he would tow it and we had a 2 mechanics come in to check out the engine to see what engine size it was and to get it started - so yes, the winnebego was cleaned up - the fridge, stove and seating were taken out some time ago and all that really remained in there - were 2 top cages that we'd built. The winnebego was bare.
I had her carpet steamer - there's alcilyde in the basement of that house and even tho the homeowner had built a sub floor over the fungas, it was coming up through the floor, staining the carpet. Knowing how tense things have been, I didn't want her docked anything off her damage deposit, on account of something that has nothing to do with her.
When I got there, the homeowner and his wife were there, cutting grass and the remainder of things from the house were outside. I noticed that the Winnebego door had been opened but went to speak to the owner first.
I told him that I was there to do a basic clean up and asked why they were there.
I was told it was none of my business and the wife told me to get off their property.
I refused because my daughter's rent is paid until the end of the month and they had no business to be there and replied the same. When I went to go into the house, they refused me entry and again was told to leave the property.
I opened the winnebego door and OMG!!!!!
They had shoved grass cuttings, weeds, books, her old computer printer in there and the winnebego was SO FULL of GARBAGE from the yard and house that I couldn't get past the step!
Now I was pissed.
FIRST: the owners had no right to "take" anything out of the house - they never called my daughter or even had the curtousy to say "hey jos, there's stuff in the house - want us to do something with it?" AND by LAW - they had no business to be there- TOUCHING, TAKING or DOING ANYTHING!
IF by the end of the month, the grass wasn't cut, stuff still in the house etc - then they WOULD HAVE had a right to touch, take and DO something about it.
What was the point?
Control! WE ARE ABOVE THE LAW! WE MAKE AND BREAK THE RULES.
So I asked why they were there just looking for trouble and the response was "you and your f**king Cats!"
Well, frankly - I didn;t see their repsonse as answering my question, just a play of words to avoid the real issue"
I was livid - how dare they do this to my daughter and I knew full well that they'd dock her money from her DD for it - but didn't have the right!
I walked down to the pay phone and called my daughter and got a hold of Bob. They both came immediately! My daughter was so upset - her reaction when she walked into the winnebego was "OH my Gawd - what did you do?" The homeowners wife was laughing and came right up to our faces and said "LIke the job I did, I'm a ral Bitch aren't I?" and looked at her husband laughing! My daughter went to her truck and grabbed her cell phone to take pictures and the owners wife just kept at it and my daughter asked them what the hell they were doing there in the first place - the owner said "well if you didn't send your f**king mother down to do your things - everything would be ok" and AGAIN - they avoided the question and as her mother, why wouldn't I go clean up for my hard working daughter? - my daughter's response was - "I work remember and don't talk like that about my mom" and again it was "her and her f**king cats" - totally off the subject -
So my daughter called the RCMP and explained that she is paid till the end of the month and that the owner was there throwing things out of the house and how they had placed all the grass cuttings and everything into the privately owned winnebego that was there - he had also tried to say that she musta had 40 cats in the house cuz it reaked - the reak was Alcilyde and never were there any cats in that house to roam free! Good grief!
How does them breaking the law, relate back to the critters?
The Dispatch took my daughter's number and said that someone would call us back.
We went to see the tow truck driver and asked if the winnebego could be moved asap. I made a comment that I was taking the garbage out of it and throwing it in the driveway and that I knew I'd get arrested for it but would do it gladly to get the chance to get in front of a judge "this morning" they had no right to do that and I knew I'd get off but at least something would be done about the homeowner and his gloating wife - my daughter then spoke to the tow truck driver off to the side and we went back over to the house to see if by chance the RC's had arrived.
We then went to town to get my grandson and the phone rang - the RC's were at th eold house, so we went back (22 kms) and on the way, we stopped and picked up the mechanic. The Winnebego was gone!!!!!!! I was some upset. Here I was, all prepared to dump everything back out if the RC wasn't willing to make them remove what they had put in there.
So my first question to the RC was if the garbage still remained. Apparently the tow truck driver and Bob asked him to have a look inside and verify that garbage was thrown in there. The RC answered with - "there wasn't much in there but it smelt of cat and I'm allergic to Cats and Pot" AGAIN, irrelevant to the question!!!!! What in the hell did cat smell or POT have to do with the homeowner's illegal tresspassing, removal of remaining items in the house or dumping the grass cuttings and other - in the winnebego - have to do with anything at hand???
The tow truck driver - who hates cats but sooo appreciated how I had cleaned up the village, Bob, the mechanic, my daughter and myself - all verified that the winnebego had a musty smell, the roof had leaked for the past year! And why or how was "that" the issue when we weren't the ones breaking the law?
Well, the pictures on the cell phone show that it was loaded so much so - you couldn't walk in there and that's not the way we left it, that's not the way the tow truck driver had seen it and we had one of the mechanics with us that got the engine started and he verified that the winnebego was clean and not the way the pictures on the cell phone showed it to be.
But you know what? They got away with it.
The RC went into the house with my daughter and the home owners - I wanted to go, but I knew it would make trouble and why? WEll, that's neither here nor there now is it?
When they came out, the homeowner handed my daughter a check and I asked how much the check was for but my daughter said "never mind mom" and I piped up and said that they better not have docked her for what they had done there - when it was their choice and they had no right to be there doing that!
The RC came back over to the vehicule with us, he told my daughter that if she wasn't happy with the check - to call the rental board and they'd help her deal with it and I knew right away that they had charged her for their clean up!
The RC went on to say that he and his dad. or maybe it was just his dad, had rental units and that the RC wished that even half of their tenants left the homes as immaculate as she did. I was grateful he said that - she was so hurt - it is really hard to make her cry, but she had tears coming down under her sunglasses. My grandson was coming down the street, we had dropped him off at the restaurant to grab soem fries while we took care of things and we chatted for a bit. And again, the RC told my daughter that if she wasn't happy with the amount on the check, that she should call the rental board - I ask myself - why didn't he endorse that fact that the homeowner and his wife had no business to be there and that they did what they did by choice - against the rules and law!!!!!
I expressed my disappointment with the winnebego gone, so my daughter piped up and told me that when she took the tow truck driver aside - she told him she didn't want me going to jail because she KNEW that if the RC didn't ask those lovely people to remove what they had illegally put in there, I was definately dumping it in their driveway!!! RIGHT WHERE IT BELONGED! They had NO RIGHT to do that! NONE!
You're damn right I was willing to go to jail over that!
They had no right to do that to my daughter, they had no right to treat me the way they did when I was there, within my right, within my daughter's rights - to tidy up, remove the remainder of stuff, cut the grass and do the hedges.
AND YES- they docked $150. for their time to take out the remainder of her stuff that they had NO business touching in the first place and cutting the grass - so in reality, she paid them to throw all that crap in the winnebego - now where is there any justice in that?

Really sorry to hear about your families troubles....I hope it works out for the best. The landlords had no right, they sound like completely disrespectful scum.
