Our Huckster is at the Vet, I'm not sure if he'll make it, I had hoped that he would be home by now, but he pulled out his catheter and did himself more harm than good.
The vet is away for the long weekend and he has a replacement in to cover for him. This vet has two offices that are approx 60 kms apart. While the vet is at one clinic, the other is somewhat unattended. Huck is at the one that is 60 kms away and we can't even go see him. The dude is actually my Grandson's Cat that he can't keep at home as there are no cats allowed.
Huck was brought in in Dec/04, born to a stray and found by some young girls who were carolling for christmas - one of the gals brought him home and hid him in her closet soe mom wouldn't see, however, being the dashing young dude that he is, he cried to be let out and mom found him. Consequently, mom said to take home to school and to find someone who would take him home - so Huck was taken to the school and was the highlight of the day.
He was in the classrooms, in the teacher's lounge and fed all kinds of treats - bologne, milk, sausage and other - all EXTREMELY HARMFUL for cats - especially a young kitten that was secretly being fed tuna in the closet!
On the 4th day, my grandson found Huck flat out on the floor at the main house and told this to my companion who stayed at that house, so Ev, ran down to the second house where I stayed and I ran back with him and Huck was rushed to the Vet with my daughter and I - we thought we'd lost him on the way, but he took a sigh and we sped the rest of the way!
He survived, but recently, he had a relapse, crystalization of his urine and couldn't pee - so off to the vet we went.
Now I recently had assistance with $100 towards tests for the recalled food poisoning, I'm certain that even though I caught the bad food on time (not hard to think the food is bad when there's 50 animals puking and have diahrea) but I think some of them suffered kidney damage that still shows effects - After $235. I'm not sure what was being proven, but the tests weren't the ones I was looking for - I retain all my receipts for the books but to have had backing from a Vet assists with the class action lawsuit.
That extra unexpected spending, stretched the budget because there is so much that we need right now and time is of the essence, but now with Huck, I am limited! If the dude isn't better by morning, I may have to put him to sleep and I'll stil remain with a $300 or more billing!
If he isn't better by tomorrow, then he has to be shipped to another clinic and new fees will apply.... on top of the $300 and I already have a young man in tears, what to do!?
I wrote our local MLA this week and applied for a loan that I haven't received a response to.
The posters I put out for the Foster for Life, has gotten attention and folks think I want to pay for their horse feed and other, good grief! There goes my cell phone time and again, nothing accomplished.
I received another form today, for an application for a Grant - so that will go out Monday or Tuesday, but gee, where will I be next month?!!
So much on the go and I'm feelin a tad sick from the anxiety, why now?
My daughter met up with the homeowner at the seed plant and they sorta chatted and my daughter tried to explain that when folks don't even know me and they direct "hatred at me" that sensible people wouldn't pay any attention and if I'm going to be yelled at and blamed for something, then I have a right to know what for - if something doesn't come up in the next 10 days, I'm screwed - however, if they insist on the 10 days, I will get the tv cameras in here to show what they are trying to charge me an extra $200 a month for and it isn't pretty, I was just grateful for the place to stay until I could get some grants and loans together and move!
What a whirlwind of complication, when in all reality, what I do is pretty simple...
Gawd, I hope I can bring Huck home in the morning, he is one little dude I do not want to have to put down, Huck likes to pee on the toilet and he has been downstairs with the other "guys" cuz I trapped 3 females within the last 2 months and they had their kittens (black and white - go figure!) and the stray mommas have a hard enough time adjusting to being brought in and are really visious when a male approaches their kittens, so Huck was put downstairs and now this...
When is something good going to happen!?
Hopefully something comes through soon and I hope tomorrow morning goes good and we can bring Huck home - without worrying about more money, more charges and other that I just can't afford until we get a sponsor and some funding!
Why are Vets so expensive? Cuz they know folks are suckers for the animals - me included and Huck is very special, especially to my Grandson who saved him from the back lane, where he was put in an Adult's Winter Coat when no one at the school wanted him...
Frigggin. Money!
