With good reason, I depend on the few on the board cuz I'd be taking in every animal I could! (*we're STILL one person short from completing our board of directors - hopefully we'll find someone sooooooon)
I posted an Ad on Kijjiji in the Calgary Area, as "Rescue DESPERATELY Needs Cages" and the responses I've been getting are from folks who need to find their pet(s) a new home - aggghhhhhhhhhhhh@!!!!!@!#$$%#^&*##$$##@!
Talk about breaking my heart! I did mention in the Ad that I am at full capacity which is one of the reasons why I so despertely need cages, however that doesn't stop folks from asking. People!!!!
And the worst part is, when I say no, I still wonder what has become of the innocent who depend on the ones they love - their owners - who - can no longer keep them for whatever reason - mostly moving is the "reason" given... and this is the reason why these loving, trusting little souls can no longer stay with the people who they've grown to trust and love - yes, I wonder what becomes of them when I can't take them. Hell, I moved 3,000 miles and brought 4 animals with me, they are family and moving wasn't enough reason to "get rid of them" - but that's just me I guess.
I posted the Ad because, I am desperate for cages! I am at full capacity and there are too many without kennels or as I call it - lodging.
I've built 16 odd cages myself - as temps - until I can get either plastic molded cages or steel and I have one in my living room that's a good 6' high and 3' deep that I just can't seem to get around to, housework is the predominat task at hand.
I'll be putting an ad in the local paper soon, for Volunteers but I won't hold my breath, however it would be nice to clear up some free time, so I can get out and about and take care of wheeling and dealing to get us some sponsors and funding, it's taking too long to get back up on my feet because of the time requirements at this moment - can't be in more than one place at a time, so that too has become a hindrance that is stopping advancement.
Too many people take on pets without thought of the future and too many pets are euthanized and or left behind because hindsight wasn't on the agenda - spontaneous pet ownership usually ends up with the animal losing it's life. NOT COOL!

Here's a neat picture of a cat looking in the house and the other in the house, looking out and her reflection can be seen as well, it almost looks like there's a beam coming from outside and the reflection looks like it's coming through the outside kitty. (*also, I was asked yesterday if I've seen the outside kitty, she is apparently missing for a couple of weeks and there is a fox den just out my back door - I don't dare think of what happened to that sweetie!@)
bye for now
