Wolf Within

A sweet kitty cat on the outside, but ... Beware of that Wolf Within

I've sought out a private lender who will help us into a "real" facility, should I be able to get the deposit together...
Some folks don't realize that just because we aren't presently incorporated, doesn't mean that donations aren't a tax write off - they ARE!
Once I can get my boxes unpacked, my taxes are going in - I have returns coming and everytime I get at them, I have to repack!
Stuff with the ex, is all cleared up, so it's free sailing from here.
This new facility, means that our programs can be re-initiated and we can invite small groups from agencies and elsewhere to come out to the "retreat"
It would be a ton of work, but not like I'm not use to putting in 14-18 hr days!
To have 12 hour days, would be a blessing and I think that would be possible to regain some volunteers and be established.
The new facility, would mean that sponsors would take us more seriously, it would make us eligable for grants, subsidies and assistance that is much needed.
Working for next to nothing is no fun and I've come to realize how little folks understand about "shelters" - what makes ours different is the implementaion of the programs for people and the animal assisted therapy - in spite of what some may think, I feel that having animals sit around all day, serving no purpose with exception to "hoping" someone will come along and provide a good home, is an absolute waste!
Enuff said - here's what I'm chasing and I even wrote the Mayor in the village it's located in, we want NO MORE problems, we just want to fit in and be a contributing member of the community!!! The animal rescue however, will no longer excist (i fear what will become of some of the guys on the streets, i realize folks don't believe half of what i say and that's the shame of it all cuz it is hard to imagine in a compassionate society - but not compassionate here - a couple of ladies have promised they'll do what they can, should we leave this area - i'm grateful).
I've got a couple out right now that might be adopted, I find out about 2 on Monday and another 4 on wed-thurs - We will keep 30 of the crew (my daughter's dogs and mine are included in that total) to be used in the programs and for Animal assisted therapy.

This place has 8 complete suites - single bedrooms, living rooms and kitchenettes, the government built it in the 80's so it meets all public use codes and is presently used as a mini motel, renting to guys in the Gas and Oil industries - so it generates revenue - each unit has patios, there is a rec area, there are handicap ramps, handles in the showers and beside the toilets, it's the perfect place to bring out small senior's groups, kids and those with handicaps!
There are 650 farming families in the area, which suits my daughter as she plans to keep working till we get in our new Charity licence and get some grants and subsidies - the place is almost 6,000 sq ft and will be a lot of work for me to handle by myself, ie: cleaning rooms for the renters, garbage, landscaping and grass, shovelling snow in the winter... we plan on offering fresh lunches, hot home made suppers, laundry services (ewww) and the internet as additional income - it will be a ton of work that will be welcomed should we be able to get our foot in the door.
Our lawyer in Calgary has committed to donating his time in verification of any legal paperwork or land title agreements - (estimated $1,400. in donation - we love you Nick!!!)
Anyone who donates over $200 is getting a special plaque engraved with their name on it that we'll be mounting over the door of the facility in honor of those who made it all possible - Jim A. has committed to making the plaques for us - we feel that having the memory of those who helped alive, is a good omen!
PLUS, anyone who donates is more than welcome to come out and spend a weekend to see for themselves just what they have helped bring about - people, we need this place!!! We need a roof over our heads, a place to work and a place to bring good into other people's lives!
I see nothing but good here and the realtor is also doing what he can to get us in the door, I asked if we could pay half one year and once we're better established then I see no problems paying off the second half with a fresh loan - private lenders aren't cheap - should our business plan be accepted and into the second year, I'm sure I'll be glad to see a lower interest rate!
I'm writing the radio stations, anyone and everyone I can think of, we need this place!!!!
I want to get my family outta here and all along, I've said that should the right opportunity come along, we're gone... but until then, I've been committed to making a difference here.
I wrote the MLA almost 3 weeks ago, he has not contacted me back.
I gave him my referances, a general rundown of our business plan, folks to contact who can verify what I've done in my past and asked that in a county that covers 2,400 sq miles - to help us relocate.
By law he is obliged to respond, but hasn't - it appears he chooses to ignore our 7 yr residency here - what else is there to believe?
By leaving, I plan on bringing awareness to what has happened here, officials - officials who run other people's lives and determine other's lives, break the law~ there's only one that is in a position of law enforcement that I respect, as he and his wife have 3 strays they've brought in, tended to their health care and made them a part of their family - only ONE~! Sad
We want to move forward, get away from all the abuse and losses and DO something that others respect us for and lend a hand - make people smile for a change! Bring happiness into life and carry on - benefit others.
So if we ever needed some support, it's now!
Have any ideas how we can raise some money or have a venue we haven't thought of - please message me! Now would be the time!
Want to invest in us and be a silent partner? - get ahold of me!
