A few months ago, I started a newsletter on an old blog.
As of recent, a gal who visits, left me a comment about "her dog" and how she got it... i thought i'd share...
-----------------------------------
I just wanted you to know a quick story about my 'Baby'!! When I worked in St. Bernard last year on the Hurricane clean-up, one morning a BIG doggie came walking in the yard. She was filthy, skinny, and sad looking. She came right up to me, and sat on my foot. She had a rope she had broken around her neck so tight that it dug into her skin. One of my friends cut the rope and she was instantly better!!! She looked up at me with those sad eyes, and laid down on both of my feet. Travis said, 'Miss Bee, that is your dog". I told him no, she was way too big for me. She stayed with me every step I took around the yard. When we got ready to pull out for work, she sat by the truck door. Travis said take her with you! I told him if she got in the back, I would. He put the tail gate down and in she went without even being prompted!! Better yet, she saw the back window open, so she jumped in and laid on the back seat, and raised her head as if to say 'come on, it's hot in here!!!' So, needless to say, she stayed with me the whole day, and when we finally got home, we bathed her and fed her a good meal, and she stayed inside the first night. George said she was too new to her surroundings to leave her outside. Said he would clean up any 'messes' she made. Guess what??? Not the first time!!! That was over a year ago!!! She is our house pet! The grandbabies love her and she is so gentle with them. She is the best dog ever!!! Named her 'Baby Girl". She is a 'saint'!! Saint Bernard!!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------

So many suffered during the hurricanes and so many were left homeless and abandoned... thank goodness for resue workers and gals...

In September, I conversed with a Realtor over a home I had interest for.
I'd inter-acted with a couple of Realtors prior, showing interest in a couple of homes (in Sk) and said that I was window shopping.
Now some of these realtors (in SK), were totally disclosing, contacting me back with every bit of info - things like how much the taxes were, heating bills, electric, if the home needed some work (ie: new shingles in a couple of years etc) I found that to be of good service. Most of the homes I've showed interest in, are in and abouts the same price range.
I was pleased with the "honesty" and ambition for which they communicated.
Alas, I made an offer on one and the Realtor told me to go lower.
We discussed that I was doing my back taxes and was under a little pressure with a dead line on this house, but said that I could extend my stay if the realtor would work with me on it and I had an appointment with the bank on Oct 10th and another later on that week. I couldn't see getting $$$ in my hand before Nov 15th.
All was ok, he asked for a deposit and I sent 10% of the purchase price. He sent me a contract that had nothing we had discussed.
I asked that he disclose that the home needed some work - a new roof in a couple of years and that the basement eventually needed work.
I asked that it be disclosed that the home had a septic and it's own water.

None of that was in the contract and he submitted that I'd have my financing in place by Sept 23rd.... hmmmm - not Nov 15th as we had discussed.
I went to see a Lawyer, as I had showed the contract to the loans officer at the bank.
Now Ab. has some sticky laws concerning home purchases, even though this home was in Sask and the rules are different, however, I was applying in Ab for the loan and not Sk.
In Ab. you need a Building Inspection and other prior to being accepted for a loan unless the home is brand spankin new.
I wanted the conditions stipulated because at the price we had agreed on, it was...

Even though I was told that there is no place for a shelter in this county - when I asked the local MLA for assistance way back in June 07, to seek out an unused farmstead, since he has sat on every Board of Directors in this county since 1975 - and knows anyone and everyone, I got the regular tap dance.....
--------------------------------------------------------
Quote:
"the Minster of Municipal Affairs and Housing came back with the response that there is no space available for animal shelters at this time. They are working with the Task Force on Affordable Housing with regards to making any surplus properties available to municipalities in accordance with government’s commitment to affordable housing."

An article came to my attention from Sept/07
http://cgi.bowesonline.com/pedro.php?id=71&x=story&xid=337494
I smiled and I'm grateful that, even though it is only a Dog Rescue/Shelter, that someone had enough funds to come into this county (relocated here) and will bring new awareness to shelters and rescues.
I emailed the gal and hope she has great success!!! (even though this does not help me in any shape or form - this woman is an example of the common use and benefits of a shelter! Otherwords, they better get use to the idea!)

Well I'm outta here, I'm up to my armpitts with packing and chores!

Unless H&R files us as a non profit, we must claim ourselves as a business or partnership - otherwords, donations that have been given, must be claimed by the donor as an "expense" - it's been one dead end after another and I apologize to those who have sponsored us. I don't know what to say except it's been a merry go round and I want off.
Those who have donated may make a claim that they paid us for a service.
The service being that we were paid to foster an animal for adoption or the programs until further notice and the accountant told me this herself.

From one department to the next, there's been mixed messages, a check returned in the society name (that we can't cash until we are registered), taxes returned and redone taking up more time, travel, cost of gas, phone calls on my cell, creating a heap of stress... just a heap of stress!
I can't believe I took out my savings to come out to this county and invested in 2 homes to get taken by such a repressed community.
"Bring your wallet, but leave your goals somewhere else"
"Come if you're retiring, building a house and can support a dying community"
aaaggghhhhhhh! The two faced no good for.....

I'm fed up of trying to please everyone else (per say), it simply hasn't worked. On the contrary, it's been a demanding, manipulated nightmare (ok, i've said it a hundred times) so where to go from here?

Give up? Not an option.
Move? I'm doing whatever I can and I can't believe after all my years, what has happened to my credit since 2005! They screwed me good - something they are obviously good at. I came here with everything and I leave with nothing!

Pursue the Documentary? YES, as soon as I can.
Change the folks around me? YES, too many finger pointers, opinions and no lending a couple of hours to ensure it all works. (Taking time to lend a hand is worth more than a million bucks to someone like me - but it's not what I've received)
Did I have enough money to do...

Never a dull moment
My main computer, has gone crash, bang, boom.
Can't keep a window open for the life of me and never before have I had to pull out 22 Trojans.
My routine is the same, I do a lot of searches on the net - my email, here and facebook.
Then, I was visiting an older gent who is somewhat housebound and his computer is his extention to the world - in his day, he was an electronics engineer and has lived in several parts of the world during his career. He's been sick for the past 10 years and doesn't venture too far.
He was looking for a couple of pictures on his computer (files and files with hundreds of pictures) when he discovered they were ALL GONE and somehow replaced with 12 pictures of Musslim Men!!!
My first words were, call the RCMP...
It gave me the heebie geebies and got me to wondering how many of us are actually "watched" online and by "whom"!
food for thought....
(and yes, his computer is up to date - for protection, yet this still happened and no, I don't even have his email addy, I visit instead)
Scary how something like this could happen....
