Angel here was named for his very timid and pleasing mannerism.
The "dude" seeks no battle with anyone, always played submissively as a kitten and "does as he's asked by me" - He is attentive, watchful and sorta reminds me of an old soul - watching every aspect of a situation, before he makes a decision or move.Pics are of Angel, then and now.
As most that we brought in, siamese is evident and some still have blue eyes, angel's are yellow, however, his "look" shows a tad siamese.
He is double jointed and sleeps in a position that had me running off to the vet!
and the next pic, shows his ever timid and attentive nature...
He's standing on the fridge in the "fridge room" of the old house.
He knew he wasn't allowed over the door and that it was there for a reason.
(we later received 3 kittnes that hauled butt over this door - up the one side and down backwards and still Angel never went over - he'd just peer over but never ventured. (Angel is in the top left corner)

This guy is an AAT Critter, used for our programs. He is Neutered and has his shots.

My job is to assist God's creatures.
I was born with the drive to fulfil their needs.
I take in helpless, unwanted, homeless creatures
without planning or selection.
I have bought dog food with my last dime.
I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand.
I have hugged someone vicious and afraid.
I have fallen in love a thousand times.
And I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body
too many times to count.
I have Animal Friends and friends who have animal friends.
I don't often use the word "pet".
I notice those lost on the road side
and my heart aches.
I will hand raise a field mouse
and make friends with a vulture.
I know of no creature unworthy of my time.
I want to live forever if there aren't animals in Heaven,
but I believe there are.
Why would God make something so perfect
and leave it behind?
Some may think we are masters of the animals,
but the animals have mastered themselves...
something people still haven't learned.
War and abuse make me hurt for the world,
but a rescue that makes the news gives me hope for mankind.
We are a quiet but determined army
and we are making a difference everyday.
There is nothing more necessary than warming an orphan,
nothing more rewarding than saving a life,
no higher recognition than watching them thrive.
There is no greater joy than seeing a baby play
who, only days ago, was too weak to eat.
By the love of those who I've been privileged to rescue,
I have been rescued.
I know what true unconditional love really is,
for I've seen it shining in the eyes of so many,
grateful for so little.
I am an Animal Rescuer.
My work is never done.
My home is never quiet.
My wallet is always empty,
but my heart is always full.

As "change" approaches life again, a humble feeling sets in, one that reflects life's path and the belief that everything happens for a reason - in spite of how it may feel at the time.
I think how fortunate I have been and am - for the sincerest of gifts that have come from the heart - actions/gestures/thoughtfulness - exceeds any monetary value - there's just no $ figure that replaces the "actions" that come from within.
I've received letters of endorsement, kind words, encouragement and yep, even a couple of painted pictures - things that someone has set time aside for and felt the need to do... that's so wonderful - it's an expression that is priceless.
I've received funds that to some may seem feeble, but I have to say that when things are on the short end, $50 may as well be $1,000 - that's how appreciated it is!
And as of recent, another incident happened here in this place where we "reside" - it concerns my grandson and something irrelevant yet it isn't - My daughter finally moved out of that village in the end of June - her and my grandson are 22 kms away in the local town. My grandson, has made some friends, one of which he hangs out with the most, happens to be east indian, 13ish, totally canadianized with the blonde tips in his hair, a a tad on the heavy side - he's a great kid and I mean it, polite, soft spoken, positive nature, helpful and outright pleasant to be around. There's a skate park right across the street (and a path that leads along the grasss to it from my daughte's new place... ) and there's a swimming pool there as well.
One day about 6-7 weeks ago, my grandson got called a "nigger lover" and had his tire slashed on his bike when he came out of the pool. The Lifeguards were notified of the incident and my daughter went over to see them and ask if by any chance, my grandson was having trouble or being trouble. They answered no to both but said they'd keep their eyes open for any signs of more trouble.... [ Continued ]

Good Grief!!
Anyone who has said that to us is:
- Uncaring and not paying attention
- simply opinionated - or -
- on the side of opposition
and as the board and I have discussed: not our allies or friend(s)
What we couldn't afford was one vehicule after another, after another, after another, after another - on account of vandalism. (from June 2005 - July 2007, we've had 27 vehicules that either wheels fell off of, brakes let go - that's been a popular one holes to the rads, brake fluid poored down the gas tank and other creative "coincidences")
What we couldn't afford was one flat tire after another and another and another (and another and another... and .... since june 2005, we've gone through 32 tires)
What we couldn't afford was the money spent on Vet bills and gas to travel 140 kms each round trip, due to harm brought to the animals, due to people's malice.
What we couldn't afford was being brought to court over trickery - time off work (loss of salary), travelling 160 kms round trips (gas) to go to court.
What we couldn't afford was the cost of Lawyers on top of the time for several appointments (more loss of salary) and the gas to travel 160 kms round trip(s).
And for not just one court case, but for three!
What we couldn't afford after paying off half the price of the TWO homes, was to lose them, to lose the roof over our head - the finances and labor that went into them - on account of greed and trickery! It's a great thing that property value has tripled or even quatripled, but to "find" a loup hole because the written and witnessed agreements weren't registered at land titles, well that's just greed AND to top it off, as it states in the court papers, because of the shelter. And there is so much left unsaid on this issue that will be left for another time.
What we couldn't afford to lose and leave behind was the new front door, the new screen door and the back door.
What we couldn't afford to lose and to leave... [ Continued ]
