I've sought out a private lender who will help us into a "real" facility, should I be able to get the deposit together...
Some folks don't realize that just because we aren't presently incorporated, doesn't mean that donations aren't a tax write off - they ARE!
Once I can get my boxes unpacked, my taxes are going in - I have returns coming and everytime I get at them, I have to repack!
Stuff with the ex, is all cleared up, so it's free sailing from here.
This new facility, means that our programs can be re-initiated and we can invite small groups from agencies and elsewhere to come out to the "retreat"
It would be a ton of work, but not like I'm not use to putting in 14-18 hr days!
To have 12 hour days, would be a blessing and I think that would be possible to regain some volunteers and be established.
The new facility, would mean that sponsors would take us more seriously, it would make us eligable for grants, subsidies and assistance that is much needed.
Working for next to nothing is no fun and I've come to realize how little folks understand about "shelters" - what makes ours different is the implementaion of the programs for people and the animal assisted therapy - in spite of what some may think, I feel that having animals sit around all day, serving no purpose with exception to "hoping" someone will come along and provide a good home, is an absolute waste!
Enuff said - here's what I'm chasing and I even wrote the Mayor in the village it's located in, we want NO MORE problems, we just want to fit in and be a contributing member of the community!!! The animal rescue however, will no longer excist (i fear what will become of some of the guys on the streets, i realize folks don't believe half of what i say and that's the shame of it all cuz it is hard to imagine in a compassionate society - but not compassionate here - a couple of ladies have promised they'll do what they can, should we leave this area - i'm grateful).... Harley a beautiful 6-7 month old male Tabby mix and Peaches a long haired peach colored male approx the same age as Harley, are both in a Foster Home, on a trial basis to be Adopted... I sure hope it works out for the guys!
By chance, a friend of mine who installs sateliite in the area, met a semi retired couple seeking a pair of comapnion animals. The Mrs, stays home during the day and does beautiful inlaid wood figures and I mean beautiful!
Recently she did two 4' Harley Davidsons and auctioned them off to raise money for the Children's Hospital - hubby is a school teacher in the next county over - they bought into a home on an acreage that is not a farm and companion furkids were being sought.
IT IS LAW: that even barn cats require to be FED at least once a day and be provided a HEATED area during the winter - not many folks follow that law which is why they don't like me or want me on their property! But IT IS LAW! (call any SPCA, Bylaw or do a search on Animal Cruelty - it's all there - no exceptions!!)
Anyhoo, Peaches wasn't as receptive and Harley, being he is the more outgoing of the two and likes Peaches becuz of his non aggressive and timid ways. Harley was a hit, soon rolling on the floor, looking for attention, while Peaches found security in the back bedroom, under the couple's bed.
Here's a pic of Harley who thinks he's human and sleeps on his back...
and Peaches, who was found with a piece of wood in is eye, now healed and obviously blind in the left eye....
HOUSING UPDATE:
I've found a facility that would seriously set us back up and running, it is pricey, $300,000. however it is making income and proves to be a more viable interest to a Private Lender... we need an angel, literally, this is THE best... [ Continued ]

I went to meet a gal today who called me concerning the poster I placed locally - great little acreage, however, no way to accommodate the crew and I - she works for the local Family Services and we had quite the chat - if she knows of any Seniors who could benefit from a feline companion, she'll get in touch and maybe even send a few teen Volunteers my way - once I get settled in somewhere... everything is pending till I can MOVE!!! Everything!!!
This woman is an herboligist and she grows Organic Catnip (amongst other things), so all you feline pet parents, if you're considering something healthy for your kitties, consider purchasing the REAL thing, fresh out of the garden! (i brought some home and man oh man, the crew went nutsoid! I had walked through the garden and they were all over me, jumpin up on my pant legs and they opened the drawer where I put it to hide it till I could figure out where to hang it to dry - well there ain't any left to hang so I don't have to worry 'bout that anymore!)
For those who like giving CatNip to their kitty(s) - consider the real thing and order yours from Earth Works Herbs great lady and a great product!
Oh and if ya have a sec, check out a pic of her kitty sitting on the back of her Pot Belly Pig "Millie" - toooo cute!

My bro flyin a plane (i particularly like the canadian flag on his shoulder) anybody here from Grande Prairie Ab? You may recognize him.... my daughter met up with him at a Calgary Flames game in the late 80's and he brought her into the Flames dressing room and "the boys" all signed her jacket and hat! Talk about being in her glory! (i know a ton of guys who'd of liked to be in her shoes!)
Meet my bro - Pete Montana - those from in and around the Calgary area may have heard of him before.... (even nova scotians)
and my sister - Linda (had to add her just cuz she's so-o cute) and we'll leave my nieces out of this one (applications required)
... have been busy sending out letters, sent on to the MLA, am hoping he can come through with something for me - deadline is up and I can't budge - am hopin something will come up soon - i need to move forward and the critters need some fresh air outside - hopefully this week will show some results..

In such trying times, I've contacted some of my old buds in Montreal - I don't think anyone can imagine the situation, we all have our problems, yet to be continuosly treated like I haven't got a clue what I'm talking about, like I haven't had a 30 yr career and misjudged, by folks who don't know me, no matter what I say or even when documents are produced that say otherwise, treat everything like a lie! The best part is, not one person has caught me in a lie in the 7 yrs here - because I DON'T lie! This is THE most abusive and degrading situation I have ever been in - ever!
So-o many losses and such destructive and demoralizing times - all based off of opinions - one track minds no mattrer what is presented to them!
Homesick and in need of folks who KNOW me, who KNOW what I've done in my past and who KNOW that the ONLY time, I get my panties in a knot is when I witness continual bashing and debasing, only this time, it's been directed at me.
I contacted the gent who originally got me into working with kids when I was in my early 20's - the thing with me is when I make a "friend" it is for life and most of the people in my personal circle, have known me for 20-30 years - I don't treat friendships like they are disposable - but precious - because they are! Obtaining friends for so long says something in itself and he sorta suggested that he'll have some free time at the endo f the next two weeks and has tons of air miles, I'd be embaressed for him to see how low my life has gone here, but his whole family WAS like family to me and I could sure use a good talking to and some encouraging and positive direction - I can't believ how beat up I feel! I can take a lot of shit and am a pretty confident person, but this has all gone on for too long and something needs to happen to set things back where they should be.
Funny, it's not the animals making me all the problems, it's people.
People and their contagious attitudes - flaunting papers they printed off... [ Continued ]
