Sometime ago, I began a site that is for Pet Owners to register their pet's spay and neuter ear tattoo numbers. I stopped work on it with so much going and.... AND I was totally discouraged by an email I received from someone I had respected!
One of the vets I dealt with, having taken in 32 of the critters to their clinic, contacted me - angry and insulted by the listing! I was floored!
She went on how vets like in her clinic have helped hundreds track back owners through pet's ear tatto numbers and that searching out the tatty's was free...
I tried to explain that if they helped out "hundreds" then that meant that regular folks had no clue where to look and that some vets charged a fee for their time to seek out the information... plus - tatty's vary from province to province and state to state, meaning that just because an animal is living in Alberta, doesn't mean that a previous owner who had lived in Ontario, moved west and gave away or sold their pet to someone who had lived in Alberta all their life....
The Listing, is a means for the rescue to make an honest buck, while helping pet owners feel reassured that their pet is posted on the net, in case the pet goes missing.
There is a "one time" fee - for the lifetime of the pet - of a huge $15.00 - this is what my old vet clinic was offended about that inspired the controversial email I was sent in scorn!
This "fee" includes a picture of the animal, (with no picture, just a descript, med requirements, scars etc and the ear tattoo number is $10.) a complete description, medical requirements if any, scars and or markings, the registered Spay Neuter number and the name of the Vet Clinic where the animal was altered. (no personal contact #'s unless folks wish it) If an animal lives to be 13-14 yrs old and is added when they are a year old - that fee boils down to less than a DOLLAR a year!!! (what were they mad about?)
The Listing is found at http://find.animals-alone.com... [ Continued ]

Merry Christmas to my buds - here's to hoping Santa was good to all of yas!
Good food, family, merriment and good friends!
We're almost all moved, another 20 critters and some furnishings and it'll be done! I think I'm gettin too old for this is all I've murmurred under my breath!
There was lots to do here before bringin in the crew, major scrubbing of the entire place - walls and floors!!! Then my faithful paint brush and I set out on a task... walls and floors too... it's looking pretty good.
I built a cage type wall across the front of the washer, furnace, hot watertank and small storage room to keep the gang out of unwanted places - then I built two counter like areas for cages and play in one of the two basement rooms. The floors are a ruff cement, so I wanted to cut back on that kinda floor space, it's too hard to keep clean~ still three more counters to build for the remaining crew to come...
All in all, I'm pleased, it's temp for a few months and when the landlord gets back from vacation, we'll be talking more about another store front that she has available. So fingers and toes are crossed - my daughter, grandson and I will work the store to start off with - I'll need time to paint and get things made for stock.
I'll offer the same thng I did in my store in Calgary, where I allowed folks to bring in their own furniture to be redone, they won't have to neccessarily buy what I have available... and damn, I have sooooooo missed painting!!!
The next 2 new series will be of wildlife.... and farm type paintings.
Oh and I started up a new store before going offline....
Here's an example of the design for the new line - made for coffee lovers and bad bosses! All are ©

Busy Busy, so I'll start with the good news first.
I was out and about today, off in Nanton when my friend's car broke down. fine by me really, I love to rummage in their local thrift store for things the rescue needs.
While there, I chatted with the manager who I don't get to see very often.
In the process she began pulling out blankets, pillows, rags, small animal cages, a water feeder, a waterbed heating pad, 6-7 flannel sheets and all kinds of stuff!!! I couldn't stop saying "thank you".... it was not only unexpected, it was such a pleasant surprise. I'm sure if the furbabes could say thanks too, they would! And while the car still isn't fixed and my friend stayed in Nanton over night, it's packed! And I mean jam packed with stuff. I can hardly wait till tomorrow - I'll be hitting the laundry mat to do some laundry and the crew will be comf as a buf tomorrow night with all new stuff. Wow! That topped my week!
Then later in the eve, I was with my daughter at the laundry mat when we met up with someone who rented a store I've been trying to rent. There's an apartment upstairs and the downstairs use to be a dentist's office, so there's cubicals and various usable rooms that I could certainly put to good use and live upstairs.
It"s right on main st so i figure why not get right out there in public view and start to socialize and get everything out in the open
One of my plans is to open a pet supply store that supports the rescue.
I was told that the pet groomer that was renting it, tried to bring in food supplies, collars and other related items and was stopped by the town government. Why? Because the Home Hardware 3 stores away sells "some" pet food and some collars. hmmmmmm. some pet food gives me enough reason to request a meeting with counsel because i can"t foresee why a hardware store with tons of products can be hindered by someone who specializes with one item that they sell in an area that holds a population of six thousand... I had to go into the city on the weekend, so a bud of mine obliged to do the drive.
Chores always take up more time than I realize sometimes and before I knew it - it was 2 p.m. - I hadn't even had breakfast yet and had hoped to stop for some bacon and eggs.
We stopped in Mossleigh - a quaint little village off the side of the highway, where the restaurant offers some good down home cookin! I stop there whenever I can for a treat.
My first question to the waitress was "I know it's late, but can I still get breaky?" She answered "no" but the cook peered out and said - "ya sure, for you, you can have breaky - what do you want?"
There was an elderly gent sitting there, smilin and said to me "runnin late are ya?" and of course I answered and said "much later than I thought!"
After the cook finished cookin my breaky, he went and sat with the gent and asked him if "his kitty was with him" and the gent answered "but of course"
needless to say, this caught my attention, so I veered around and asked the gent if I'd heard right and he was more than glad to answer....
"The crew boys found 'er and she had a swollen and bloody eye (it's called an eye ulcer and is a sign of virus) and they were about to shoot 'er when I came along and said I'd take 'er in and see what I could do for her"
He went on to say "I had a beer and thought that maybe the boys had the right idea to "shoot 'er", she looked pretty bad and after cleaning her up with a warm damp rag and some polysporin, I thought that maybe I could save her"
"She's my best friend now, comes everywhere with me - I think, she thinks she's a dog!" So I asked if I could meet her and he took me out to his vehicule.
There she was, sitting on the dash, meowing as soon as she saw her "dad" - prancing back and forth along the dash with anxiety, waiting for him to opent he door and greet her!
When... [ Continued ]
