Xerxes' Errata

1. My Workplace - Our "mechanics" and "engineers" who never fix shit. Out of all the people we have (around a dozen or so), only like 3 of them actually fix anything. The rest just screw things up and let the guys who do actual work fix it. Example. In our yard, we have 4 forklifts - two good ones and two in reserve. But for all this week (and the long weekend) we are down to just one. Supposedly, we have qualified mechanics on the job, but you wouldn't know it. But, considering how poorly they are paid, I can't completely blame them.

2. The MTV Music Video Awards - If you want to see why the music industry is in such a sorry state, watch this year's show. All of the live acts sucked except The Killers and the Raconteurs. The Killers were ok, but the best music of the night came from The Raconteurs who were relegated to providing music for the cutaway to commercials. Nevermind the fact that they had with them (at times) Lou Reed and Billy Williams (from ZZ TOP) Of all the other acts, the only other midly entertaining one was Shakira and only because she shakes her ass so fine, she could give a dog a bone.



3. The Province - Do the editors take no pride in their jobs? Or have they given up and finally realised that the Vancouver Sun is the superior Vancouver daily. Maybe, they'v been taken over by editors from the National Enquirer. I include the paper here becuase of today's frontpage (and page A2) article.

I've heard of slow news days, but printing that on the frontpage is a waste of fucking trees. Meanwhile, The Sun today had a large portion of it's A section to devoted to Canada's recent losses in Afghanistan.

4. The Radio - You know a radio station is the recording industry's bitch when you can set your watch to the same goddamed song. Fuck off Nickelback, stop making shitty music that radio stations have to play. And fuck you 99.3 The Fox. If you're being made to play the same bands over and over, at least play some different songs of theirs at least. I don't want to hear Nickelback's Rock Star 4x in a shift. Why even have DJ's? All the station managers ought to do is to is put the same 10 songs on auto-playback and they're set.

5. The Bush administration - Have none of these people ever heard of Godwin's Law? Moreover, when was the last time any of these people studied history? The Taliban/Al Queda/Iran/Hezbollah are the Nazis and anyone who calls bullshit on that is an appeaser? Give me a break. Somewhere, deep in Condolezza Rice's black heart, the old Condi Rice who has a masters in European history and a doctorate in International diplomacy is cringing at the bullshit comparisions being made. I suppose all the Nazi demonizing must mean that the GOP is really worried about losing power in Congress.
