It's all well and good to decry the public affection for bottled water but it seems to be here to stay. We should continue to point out the benefits of using clean tap water instead, but bottled water is not going to go away. My solution is simple. Move bottling plants to Northern Ontario. They'll p...

It's still hard to believe that Trump is seriously a candidate. But Americans seem to have a death wish. Have a look at these poll numbers reflecting what people thought of the first debate... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3809204/Most-snap-polls-Trump-winning-debate-landslide.html Hillary...

I maintain that the participation is important. Too often we let others do the heavy lifting for us. In this situation we're still a small player but we're there doing something. Whether the equipment we have is good enough is open to debate, I suppose, though in this case I think one would be hard ...

Canada's presence is largely symbolic. As such, it's important.

Political parties - all of them - are failing to connect with Canadians And they will continue to fail to do so. ... just 2 per cent of Canadians feel compelled to join political parties or independent campaign organizations at any given time. Almost all special interest groups - and political part...

That's a pretty gingerly test flight. It looks as if they're afraid that it's going to break. Maybe, it's the only one that flies, right now. It's about as "high performance" as the flight of a Cessna 150. This is all about harvesting the most buckaroos possible. it doesn't have to be a g...

U.S. carrier trials started this week I think. Regular landings, not VTOL.

But hell, the RN is building two state-of-the-art carriers that have been designed to take the F-35. You gotta believe that everybody knows enough to know they gotta work.

The F-35 is s turd sandwich. Canada would do well to stay out of it and let the US eat the development costs. Maybe come back and get in for the F-35C but I'd skip at least the first two iterations of this thing. You know, we hear that we should stay away from the F-35 pretty often, but the time th...

Those four F-35's would be the first of the fleet. They would be a signal that the full deal will be carried out - the purchase of about 60 of them.

We need to be planning for new planes. Our CF-18's are getting old.

Sure it's public land if I want to hunt, fish, hike, pick berries, bird-watch etc. But "public" doesn't mean that anybody can do just anything they like with it. Technically, no one is allowed to build a permanent or semi-permanent structure on crown (public) land. If you could, there woul...

Politics has been changed enormously by the mass media. Not a day goes by but that we aren't reminded of our political differences. Whether Canadian Conservative or Liberal, whether American Democrat or Republican, we hear every day about the 'heinous' things that those of the other political persua...

Canadians instinctively know there’s a party going on and they’re not invited, leading them to logically conclude that if parties are not interested in them, then these organizations and the people within them must be interested only in themselves. This reinforces the branding problem that too ofte...

I know all too well that I've ripped on the Harper Conservatives on this forum a lot, and I'm not very happy about it. The fact is that I really do appreciate a lot of the work Harper has done... Your frame of mind seems to be a lot like mine when it comes to Harper and the Conservatives. Sometimes...

My own views on the subject are pretty straightforward-I prefer the tax system to be as streamlined as possible with as few loopholes as necessary. I'm all for tax credits, but I think they should be as applicable to as many people as possible, and that they actually achieve something positive besi...

I appreciate the patient explanation of your views, Jared. Just to pick a couple of things... Even with the $2,000 limit, it seems like most of the basic problems still accrue, namely that most households will receive little to no benefits while higher-income ones are the ones most likely to benefit...
