Hey Mac, What's your views on trilingualism ? Aren't native dialects in this country worth preserving as well ? Aren't they in more danger of disappearing than the french language ? If you're asking whether I would support official trilingualism, the answer would be no. First off, native tribes all...

In any case, no matter how many judges on the court understand French, there is no such thing as a truly bilingual institution or working environment. The working language of the court will always be English, because all it takes is one person who doesn't understand French and everyone will be oblig...

It is such horse manure to hear this rhetorical lamentation against bilingualism. Judging by many of the posts here, one would think French is so impossible to learn unless you're a little kid. Wrong. Like any worthwhile activity, learning a new language takes some work, practice and dedication. I t...

Shit, a former NDP supporer who supports the purchase of nukes in this country? How the fuck do we convert the rest of you guys? LOL! I can assure you, the credit for my conversion goes to no one on these boards. Over a year ago, I saw a 17 minute CBC interview of Maragaret Thatcher... And that's w...

If in order to make what you deem as enough money, your business model requires round-the-clock government surveillance of citizens' private computer activities, hard drive contents and Internet surfing, then I think you have a pretty fucked up business model, end of story. Fact of the matter is, al...

Screw the Canucks. Habs all the way, baby!

Who the hell is this guy to declare Canada's team anyway? You can cheer for whomever you want... on your private Twitter account, among friends, family... but not in your functions as Federal Heritage Minister.

I'm all for people making a buck, but the fact of the matter is that the these industries are grasping at straws to protect a business model that has been destroyed by technology, and the technology ain't goin' nowhere but forward. They either need to keep up and find new ways to make a profit, or c...

As an ex-Texan, I must say that this brief moment of intelligent decision-making surprises me from Perry. The man's an idiot that almost no one likes, even those in his own party. Last year someone even set fire to Governor's Mansion in Austin. They never did find the culprit. The Arizona law goes ...

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
Why do we need a celebrity as GG?

The idea is embarrassing.

Michaëlle Jean was a sort of celebrity before becoming GG. You'd just never heard of her.

Hey, how about Margaret Atwood? I can't think of a better choice from the cultural sphere, actually. Though I'm not sure if she's bilingual.

I could see Leonard Cohen as GG. He is an important Canadian cultural figure, even though his music and poetry are far greater works than his two novels. Despite being an avid reader, I just couldn't make it through either The Favourite Game or Beautiful Losers.

I have never had a downright rude CBSA agent. However, with only one exception, everytime I go to the States I get a surly border guard, and that includes the ones at airport pre-clearance sectors in CANADIAN airports. Sometimes I have wanted to say "You're a guest in this country. Act like it....

Vos attaques ?

I say give him the green. It's probably way cheaper than anything else they'd give him in its place.
