What are we gonna do about it? Most likely nothing as usual. The issue will start and end with Rick Bell's Calgary Sun rant and that'll probably be the end of the discussion. Stelmach got 72 seats in the last election. Only a fool wouldn't look at results like that as a clear carte blanche to do what he wanted. And I doubt that Stelmach is a fool, even if I didn't vote for him.

Yeah carte blanche right enough! It is frustrating that in Europe people are demonstrating about gas prices, food prices etc. etc. and Canadians are like sheep. Hope this is the turning point though.

One need look no further than the timing of this - not even three months after the election. By the time the next elections comes 'round in 2012, it will have been completely forgotten about. The PCs have many slick tricks up their sleeves - just one of which is saving their most unpopular actions for right after the election, and then buying off the electorate right before the next to cement their collective amnesia.

I am not sure the people will forget this one hurley. Yes its amazing the amount of thought and planning that goes into screwing the population.

I'm for it.

That barely keeps up with the rate of inflation in Alberta.

Remember all the bitching a few years ago about electricity/natural gas prices? a few rebate cheques here and there and almost everyone forgot about how much they got screwed...

These folks are carrying a huge burden most of us would not be prepared to take on in terms of travel, separation from their families, intense public scrutiny and the sheer magnitude of their decisions. :D

Hrmmm, was wondering why no prosperity check this year...

This STOLEN taxpayer money would be better served stocking up
for a rainy day when oil prices nosedive for an extended period :x

Of course, the AB Liberals could run a campaign on rolling back the
raises and I prolly still wouldn't vote for 'em

Line 'em up on against a wall blindfolded and let them think it over for a while.

At least it wasn't the Premiers good looking Administrative Assistant that got the humungous raise, like here.

I guess it doesn't matter where it is, they all seem to lookout for #1 first and then worry about the rest of us.

Is Ed Stelmac (sp?) going to revert back to the old royalty regime?

I think it might be time for the Premier to consider it...or maybe actually just lay the ground work right now for when oil reaches $50 per barrel again?

Are things really that bad in Alberta right now? The real estate prices are damn tanked! I hope better things are to come people.
