Strange how in the summer your bill might be $45.00 but you don't actually use any heat. Imagine if you walked into a store and bought noting but had to pay for the delivery of food to the store and their gas prices, electricity for their lights etc. Talk about gouging. Your thoughts please.

Most homes have a gas water heater with a pilot light and older furnaces have a pilot that use 7-15$ each, and since we can't go without hot water Atco wins again!

Its a pretty simple concept. Its a bussiness and a bussiness' reason for being is to make a profit. They are giving you a service, use or not you have to pay for it. Kind of like a phone land line, whether you use it or not you still have to pay for it.

How about this, you have insurance on your car, do you only pay for the days you drive it?

That is a little bit different though, you cancel your service they have nothing commited to you. With a gas service, even if you are not using gas the line is there and has to be maintained. The other thing to remember too is that Atco, is only the infrastructure to move the gas. in most cases it is a different company selling you the gas.
