They need it too. Oh yeah! I forgot, a big new lumberyard is going in by Meatco, maybe it'll force Co-op Hardware to get a move on their new building. The Wainwright Hotel is up for a face lift next year too. The merchants have gone with the "maybe it'll keep people local" outlook.

This place will be all tarted up! You won't be able to recognize it!
Crap, what am I saying! It's still going to be Wainwright! doh! PDT_Armataz_01_08

Dont forget the other right of passage in wain, Paint the Buffalo's Balls bright orange. Also worth mentioning is the new twin areana. Its an awsome facility for a town of that size.

You'll enjoy your time in Wainwright. Living in a tent city, enjoying all the sights and sounds of sunny downtown Wainwright. Remember the following:

JD's Saloon - Soldier bar. Stay away from Bridget the Midget. (side note to the vets - yes, she is still there, and still performing the same "services") Great place for a fight. [boxing]

Tony's Bar and Grill - Soldier bar across the road from JD's. Try not to fight on the stairs. It hurts when you fall down them. Just trust me on this one. Great place for a fight. [boxing]

Wuzzy's Roadhouse - Rigger bar (oil patch) Out of bounds to troops. Great place for a fight. [boxing]

Mojo's - Soldier bar. Little hole in the wall near the 7-11. Karaoke on Wednesdays!!! Great place for a fight. [boxing]

The Park Hotel - the finest adult entertainment available in Wainwright. Great place for a fight. [boxing]

The Spring's Motor Inn - Rigger bar. Great place for a fight. [boxing]

Did I forget any?[/quote]

- I was curious about JD's and Mojo's. I also am not from around wainwright. Could you by any chance help me out and shoot me the numbers to those places. Or the addresses. I tried looking it up online with no luck. Would like to check them out. That would be great. Thanks.

Just Wuzzy's is shut down. They can't get a liquor license.

The Honeypot isn't on the list. The lounge at BP's should be added too.

Mojo's (780) 842-3111 or 842-3141
Wainwright Hotel (JD's) (780) 842-6280

I made an account here JUST TO COMMENT ON THIS TOWN....My entire family has lived here for over 35 years. When i was born my mom and dad took me away from this town for a reason, and i have recently moved back (no other choice but to live with family while the economy is how it is). Wainwright is NOT the nice little town it once may have been. Sure, there is alot to do, and the town does TRY to make it a good place to live, but IMHO, this is NO PLACE to consider raising a family. The young adults in this town are incredibly bad ppl, and will try to get every kid at the ELEMENTARY school hooked on drugs. They start with weed, and move to Coke and Meth. IT IS HARD FOR KIDS TO SAY NO, especially if they think it's "cool". Have you heard about the WBP here? It's a gang that actually does kill ppl, deals drugs, and some of the biggest drug dealers in the community, are supposed to be "upstanding authority figures, and ppl who contribute to the community by holding events (sports or w/e) to bring more ppl to Wainwright. I HATE THIS TOWN, and am counting the days until i can get out and move to a nice small quiet community to raise my 1 yr old son. Yes, i know every town has drugs and whatnot, but at least the police try to catch them, here IMHO it seems like they're more concerned with traffic tickets than getting the WBP (White Boy Posse) the f*ck out of town. Unless your kids have absolutely no self-esteem issues, and find it rly easy to make friends anywhere, I would not reccomend raising a family here. They MIGHT get pulled into the hidden "second world" here with drugs, gangs, and murder, and they MIGHT not. It's not a chance i am willing to take with my son. I do not want my son to get put through a wood chipper just because he won't sell for the WBP boys. Yes, a wood chipper incident DID happen here, the guys in Jail, i don't know all the details, but i know his younger brother is running the gang while he's "out of commision".
It's an ok place to stay, but I am not taking that big of a chance with my son's life, and think I may move to Morinville just north of edmonton, a quiet place close to the city, and the police there are TOUGH ON DRUG DEALERS. No gangs, and a commited police force? I'd rather raise my baby there...But this whole rant is just my honest opinion, i'm sure they are LOTS of ppl who LOVE this town and will defend it to their dying day, which is fine, it's just not for me :)
