I am new here and for one wanted to introduce myself. So hello. Well know that I got that out of the way I am wondering... I live in central Alberta and everyone I know works in the Oilfield either rigpigs or wire whiners and I am just wondering where do you work and are you worried what will happen when the oilfield slows down. Which we all know is going to happen eventually.

You could allways apply for a job there. Should be good for 8 years minimum once they start mining gold.Plus they fly you from anywhere in Canada return. My flights cost about $2700.00 one way and its paid for.

Damn...tempting, but somehow I don't think my kids would adjust well.
8 years.. hmm.. they'll be gone in 7. I'll keep that in mind.

Wow..good deal. Still, there's the matter of raising two children. That's kind of a full time gig. What are they looking for up there (employee wise)?

It's in the exploration stage so were still building airstrip and drilling test holes, they have allready started on the road from Baker lake to the mine 90 kliks away and an atco camp will replace the tent camp once the roads done, work on the plant should start this year, enough strip is done to land small planes for now and the big fuel tank is ready to go on its pad. The tent camp will go 20 miles north for more exploration this year.Thats where I'll be going. It will be Canada's biggest open pit pure gold reserve and mine.

Here's their site. Click on projects and then meadowbank if you want to see whats happening up there.http://www.cumberlandresources.com/mdb/mdbbank.html

ROTFL

Unfortunately, I'd be tent bound. I'd be burned at the stake if it were found out that I was residing in an Atco camp.

I confess - I've browsed your pics several time. They're absolutely amazing! Especially the northern lights and the sunsets... weak spot of mine.

Hence, the request for the tour. I'd love to trek up there just to see it all for myself. I'm a northern girl and just love that stuff.

Checked out the site too. Looks like a massive project. I'll be lookin' for more pics after you go back.

I'll have some good pics because in march I'll be clearing off one of the lakes so the big hercs can land to refuel and resupply the camp, dragging the drills around to sites, and takeing the cat on the 90 klik cruise across the tundra to skid stuff back to camp from Baker lake. Plus I get to do some mean snowmobiling and I'll be taking the fishing rod this time.
