what I find funny about this is people who normally disagree on everything and who cause some of the shit are posting thier support for this, all while probably thinking to themselves that it'll shut the other side up.

That's the problem with online discussions. You give yourself the permission to say (write) things that you'd never say to someone's face.

Personnally, if someone had said to my face some of the things that I've read in the forums... well I'll let you guess what I would have done.

Think before you write, if you'd never say what you write to someone in person, don't write it.

That's the basis for all problems on public anonymous forums. I've never said anything on line I would not say in person. Reading and/or writing does not allow for the body or tonal language required to impart what someone wants to say or to imply what they actually mean.

Then there are those that simply abuse the fact that no one know who they are and know there are no consequences for what they say. There are a few of those here, like on any forum.

It's a good exercise in written communications, something that I need too.
But you'll never get better by flaming.

From a mods point of view, we really don't want to ban anyone. We hope that this will settle things down and cool the personal attacks. We just want everyone to be able to enjoy the site without getting attacked for their point of view just because it isn't shared by all. Everyone, long term member and newbie, deserve to be able to come here and not feel like they can't say anything in a thread that they have a view point to share. We will also be looking very closely at those who "bait" others into flaming.

Having said that, please, take what has been said in the notice to heart, we will do what we've stated. We do hope it won't come to that.

Except for the occasional visit, I have not been a on for some time now. For the reasons put forth, first I gave up on the political forums. Then the controversial topics. Then it just did not seem fun to participate anymore.

I am glad to see the Mods get together to attempt to rescue a fine site and forum from a bunch of closed minded bullies and trolls. I sincerely hope it works. I will continue to visit and watch. Hey, I might once again become a regular contributor to the CKA community, not just an occasional visitor.
