Can someone else confirm this? To my knowledge, that's not the point of Remembrance Day.

As far as I know Rememberance Day is an occassion to remember all our fallen from all conflicts even ongoing ones. If we were really going to be anal about it then we would only be remembering WW1 on this day.

it has no more to do with showing respect for Remembrance day and our veterans than a pic of a naked lady in a field of poppies.
I just realized that this wasn't a rhetorical point... I concur.

Not exactly an avatar, but a tribute to Fresh Widow by Marcel Duchamp.

People remember in ways that are different than yours – does that make you a better at remembering? If I don’t go to church as often as you or leave a bible open on my coffee table am I a less worthy Christian? How much scorn do you have for those who have not changed their avatar? You quite consciously looked at the profile - for what reason? Where you shocked by what you saw? Be glad that people remember and never forget those who've fought for our freedom.

Why be so judgmental? Pass your judgment somewhere else, it doesn’t belong here.

A DETERMINED ENEMY

PLACE WHERE OUR SOLDIERS HEROISM AND BRAVERY WAS HAILED BOTH AT HOME

CRISP AUTUMN AIR OR AT THE CANADIAN MONUMENT AT KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, I
KNOW YOU WILL BE THINKING OF YOUR COMRADES AND FRIENDS WHO HAVE
SACRIFICED SO MUCH TO GIVE CANADIANS THE FREEDOM WE ENJOY TODAY
14. I ALSO KNOW THAT YOUR HEARTS WILL BE REACHING OUT TO THE
FAMILIES OF CANADIAN PERSONNEL WHO HAVE RECENTLY LOST THEIR LOVED
