Just an FYI, this feature hasn't worked for several months now... it only shows the last rating (which is usually mine :D)

Well, for one, if you click on 'Posts rated by this user' in the profile, it used to list all the latest posts rated by all users. Now, it only lists the very last one.

As far as I know, the rating itself is working properly, though.

UPDATE

I did some tweakings to the post/topic rating system, rather than using a new system.
I fixed the rating popup window, it now fits in the popup window properly and should load faster as well.

I also tweaked some of the values for a topic to get to certain star levels, because I think they were a bit high.

I also changed the naming of the rating choices and added another level.

[hr]
Good Post +1
Great Post +2
Excellent Post +3
Moderator Recognition +4 (only mods and admins can give this level)
[hr]

These are the "score" levels a topic needs from the sum of all posts rated within it to get to stared ratings.

[hr]
1 Acknowledged
4 Worth a look
9 Quality
15 Inspired
20 Impressive
[hr]

On the forum view pages I also shifted the stars over to thier own colum, makes them stand out more.

I still need to fix the personal rating history, only showing the most recent rating... but this bug does not stop the system from working.

I am also oging to work on these things to improve the system:
- Show an average and total for "rated" posts on a users profile.
- Make rating faster, get rid of the popup and have an instant rating like the "News Links" voting
- An overall summary page showing all the top rated posts, topics and recently rated.

AND this is also a nice BUMP to remind people that this system even exists ;)

not really sure how I did it, but I fixed the page listing all the posts a user has rated.

Example, Blue_Nose:

ok I made some more progress on fixing and improving the rating system.

The base ratings page shows the "Latest Ratings":
http://www.canadaka.net/modules.php?nam ... le=ratings
I added a link to this page under the forums "extras" dropdown menu.

Then there is 3 quick links on the right to these seperate views:

Highest rated topics: http://www.canadaka.net/modules.php?nam ... ngs&type=t

Highest rated posts: http://www.canadaka.net/modules.php?nam ... ngs&type=p

Highest rated users: http://www.canadaka.net/modules.php?nam ... ngs&type=u
(not fully working yet)

and on each different page there is a selection box at the top that allows you to narrow down the results to a specific forum. For example you can see all the top rated topics or posts just in the "Canadian Politics" forum.

also on your profile pages, beside the already existing "Posts rated by USERNAME" link I added a "Highest rated posts" link.

There are some more ways to mix up the variables in the URL, but i find them less useful so i'm not going to add links to them. For example this one.
"Highest-ranked posters as rated by Blue_Nose"
http://www.canadaka.net/modules.php?nam ... edby=15650
basically just shows the top ranked posters that "Blue_Nose" has at some point given them a rating.

I made it so on certain "views" the date of the topic or rating is shown in one of the columns.

I guess one thing I will need to add is pages, right now any query is limited to max 30 results.

FInally I added 2 links to the bottom of each "view forum" page, that links to the top rated posts and topics within that forum. Its just a shortcut way of using the dropdown forum that I mentioned above.

Ugh. Banff is my "highest rated poster" because I was rating all his posts as "highly recommended" as a joke for a while some time ago. Nobody noticed though, and now it just looks like I really like his posts PDT_Armataz_01_07

It looks awesome, Canadaka... good stuff!

hmm I just tested it an works here... and looking at the "Latest Ratings" page, its working for others.

So not sure, I would say logout, then use the "delete cookies" page, then close browser, re-open and re-login.

Is it only posts you can rate or can you rate an entire thread instead?

well I was playing around with another system for rating topics, I had it worked 2 days ago, but then decided to scrap it. Because it added a bunch of new overhead to each pageload. And when i took another look at the current/old post rating system, I decided to salvage it instead.

Topics get thier rating from the sum of rated posts within it. I could probably figure out a way to allow rating of the topic not attached to a specifi post or user. Its not a high priority though, I think iw ant to get "instant" voting going first. I think adding that will result in more posts being rated.

I'm also thinking I could combine "Site Points" and the new "Rep Scores" and your total "Post Rating Points" to create a master "CKA Score" or Level.
