Well they have beaten back the fire. Damn but I feel like a part of me died with that fire. To some they are just trees and yes they will grow back. They won't be my trees though. The notches that marked my passage, my moments in time are gone. I'll never again sit and feel the spirit of my father, my brother surround me there. It's where I went to find joy, to cry away sorrow, to think and make the hard decisions in life.
I don't cling to material things, to houses. Those woods were my one true home. I could sit there and by just looking around see something that reflected who I was, who I am. I just feel defeated and like there is nothing left for me here. The trees will grow again but the landscape will be forever changed.

Odd you should say that. This fire has brought many things in my life to the surface again. I was thinking how for every loss,every hurt I grew strong again, but how deeply they have changed who I am. This too is a close of a chapter in my life, how it will change who I am and what I do is yet to be seen.
