... okay, just to be clear, the above pictures show debris from the Pacific Garbage Patch that isn't alleged to have come from japan?

Some of it certainly is Japanese. But did it come from the tsunami? I have no idea.

But it's probably about 95% Chinese-made or so, despite probably being 95% North American-owned

I like the TV quote from a Park Ranger on Vancouver Island.
"Who's going to pay to clean this up?"

No one. It's part of your job fuckhead. Get to work.

What's pathetic is how BC seems to think it's Japan's fault.

... well, apparently the country of japan is doling out millions of dollars to jurisdictions where debris is washing up on the shore. so there IS incentive to fake it since there is money to be made ...

... that's why it might be faked. and it wouldn't have to be done on large scale like you say. it wouldn't be that hard to do ...

... this is why i hope japan is involved in the debris authentication process ...

... the All Nippon Scrap and Debris Recognition Agency

No wonder the Japanese economy is falling to pieces.

Has Anyone Actually Seen The Debris From Japan?

I did. Great acid punk band out of Osaka.
