To start, I believe that the pamphlets would only be tossed in the garbage where they belong, as stated by Ridenrain but, I'll be damned after reading the above if I want some CUPW hack deciding what I can or can't read.

They deliver the mail they don't get to pick and chose what they send out. It would be like someone who is a conservative having to deliver liberal pamphlets to people. Wow, that sets an uncomfortable precedent. Someone else deciding what I can and cannot recieve in my mail. Why not have government censors go through everything? Who does this assclown think he is?

If you got a lot of things shipped from outside the country, as I do, you'd be used to them opening (and censoring, as they see fit) your stuff by now. And if you tried to bring leaflets like that into Canada from elsewhere, customs would very likely confiscate them.

So if government censors aren't going through your stuff, it's only because of where you shop.

Free speech that is hateful, racsist, and demeaning is not free speech.

It's the very best kind of speech to protect. So long as people can say things that we don't all agree with, our freedom is safe.

Hate speech already includes factual but politicaly incorrect statitics.

You can make a good argument over male homosexual behavior and the spread of AIDS, you can make similar ones over drug users and a range of other diseases. But if you tell people about it and those groups feel bad about it, well that's a hate crime.

I'd like to see another legal challange to our hate laws someday.

As for the postal workers, you are not our censors. Deliver the mail or we will find people that will. I can think of many people that would jump at a job with the postal service.

Free speech is not some nice buzzword to mean that anything you agree with can and should be said but what you don't must be stifiled.

While i believe homopahobic literature is wrong. It does not give the posties the right to walk off the job. We do not want the post office becoming the censorship office. If the literature is 'hate' someone can ask the RCMP to investigate. Its not the posties job to determine what i can and cannot read

If the material was hate speech and illegal then the sender should be charged and the postal workers should not be penalized for refusing to deliver illegal mail. If however, the material is legal then the postal workers should have no more right to refuse to do their job than a justice of the peace has refusing to marry gay people or a pharmisist refusing to stock contraceptives or birth control.

Arent we putting the cart before the horse, a trial is neccesary first. Like i said the posties should not be censors. They're paid [ and paid well] to walk around and give me my mail - not to read it and determine whether or not i should have it
