It seems like a pretty damned cool thing to keep an eye on.

That is, as long as it keeps saying "no danger."

Repeat after me:

If the water rushes out really quickly, RUN. Away from the beach. Do not stop to collect the fish. They are not a present from god.

(I'm still in awe of how many people didn't know that tidbit.)

If BC had a tsunami like SE Asia's then Richmond would become Venice in the worst possible way.

You mean "Ditchmond"...yeah you are right about that! Would Van Isle protect us from the brunt of a tsunami though? I live in North Van quite elevated but still....it makes you think twice.

I think Vancouver Island would be forced to take the brunt of a tsunami, unless it happens in the Strait of Georgia.

:D I don't think I've heard of Ditchmond before. I do know of Maple Ditch though.

But to answer your question, yes and no. The Island would take a lot of abuse, but there is still the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Georgia Strait where shockwaves from an earthquake could travel through to the mainland.

Suprised they didn't cover themselves by a statment like this:

This is just a Test of the Provincial Emergency Program.
If this had been a real emergency ...blah blah..

PEP

Funny thing about this ...is they just added Tusnami Warnings

P.S Richmond becomes a new inlet new home for the ferry terminal
just think..don't have to drive so far 8)
