I'm not to concerned that a few hate mongers are getting hauled before boards of inquiry. I'd be far more worried if it were actually considered a crime to simply film police officers especially in cases where the person doing the filming is the person dealing with the police.

Not since the Alien & Sedition Acts were overturned and then since the 1970's when porn was determined to be protected speech it's been legal to disseminate porn to adults.

In general, outside of provoking violence or mayhem you cannot be criminally prosecuted for any form of speech in the USA. You don't have a right to not be offended here.

Now, if you lie about someone the government doesn't prohibit that, but you can be sued in civil court.

I must have hallucinated that whole fine for the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction then. I conceed that it wasn't a criminal prosecution, but hey, neither is the HRC. Yea, we haven't shit-canned the HRCs yet, but the ban on broadcast indecency is certainly more recent than the 70s and shows that your country is still working on speech and expression issues.

Your governments make deals with perps at least as often as ours do - so Karla would have been just as likely to walk in the US as well. Especially at the time, when domestic violence hysteria was at a peak, along with rape victims never lie and neither do children.
