I'm sorry if this goes against conventional wisdom, but unless they live on the border, American's don't spend that much time thinking about Canada, and the American news media rarely, perhaps too rarely, covers US-Canadian relations. Then again, we rarely cover US-UK relations or US-French or US-any other valued ally relations. The media is much more likely to cover US-Mexican relations given illegal immigration and the drug cartels on the border.
