It's funny how people have this definition of what makes someone 'white' rather than just merely caucasian. A friend of mine who got back from Afghanistan commented how surprised he was to see so many Pashtuns with blond hair and blue eyes as well as red hair and green eyes and complexions that would seem
more at home in the Nordic nations than Afghanistan.
It's because no matter how we put it, race is, and always has been a social construct based on the social norms, politics, culture and history of its respective region.
And even as a social construct, race is still trumped by class and culture.
